Every Chevrolet or GM vehicle that I owned. Issues with timing chains and transmissions simply could not be overcome or repaired in such a manner that the repairs would last longer than thirty days or so.
It'll be Fords or Toyotas for me from now on.

I recently bought one of these from Carmax, but I paid $20k for the extended warranty, so I’m good.
The issues are pretty well understood now, back then we were still trying to figure it out. The problem is the sand cast block and shitty job International did cleaning them. Clean the cooling system, replace the oil cooler, eliminate or go aftermarket for the EGR cooler, and add a coolant filter and you'll be set as long as you haven't already lifted a head.

Honestly that’s nothing. Imagine having a shitty vehicle that’s also insanely expansive to repair.
Like a modern BMW
i told her that she's keeping it till it will cost more to fix than to sell it. it's actually in the shop for the windows sticking (see the annoying habits of your significant other thread)
outside of replacing all struts, brakes, shocks, i've never dropped more than $1k at a time for a fix, but a lot of sparkplugs and the coils over time.

2016 Hyundai Tucson. Total piece of crap car. Engine eventually blew with less than 70,000 miles on it. Never again.

Early model Chevy Trailblazer. It was on it's third wiring harness, and second air conditioner at 70,000 miles. It had one short that caused the road stabilization to malfunction every time I hit certain types of bumps in the road, and another which made the interior dome lights quit working until I hit another pothole that jarred the wire off of the frame. Really annoying failures going on all the time.
I'm sure I'm forgetting tons of other stuff that broke during the few years that I owned it.

Our Chrysler’s and Fords all sucked.
Ironically our Jeep Grand Cherokee was awesome. Everyone told us it would be terrible. Same story with the Chevy Trailblazer, which was cheaply constructed but extremely reliable.
I haven’t owned a Land Rover but I hear awful things.

BMW decided that they could save a few dollars putting plastic parts in they’re cooling system. What could possibly go wrong?

I’ve lucked out with vehicles (knock on wood).
My wife had a terrible PT Cruiser. Other than that we’ve had great products.
We’ve had two Chevrolets, a Toyota, a Honda, a Volvo and a Subaru that were all extremely good cars. I was concerned with the CVT in the Subaru though, but it never actually broke.

We had a 2005 Volvo S40 that was a nickel and diming brokedown piece of shite.

I had a Ford Taurus that consistently tried to kill me. The cruise control was defective, so it would just uncontrollably accelerate every now and then, putting me in danger of dying if I couldn’t find a way to kill the ignition while it was speeding up.
