Here's the thing. It's more than 20% but he is also paying gas.
I know of a few JJs at least that don't deliver outside of about 2 miles from the location because they want their people delivering to bike. The one in The Woodlands is like that and often I get bikers when I have it in Virginia

I normally let him lay with my wife and start a college savings fund for him but I guess I'm a little nicer than y'all

As someone who had made his living from delivering pizza, I always tip $5. I understand for something less expensive that seems high.
From a driver's perspective, tip at least $3. Anything less is too little, anything more is gravy. Remember these guys are making most of their income from tips.

I was a delivery driver for JJ through college and $2 was the norm. They make less than minimum wage fwiw.

but usually businesses keep more than half of the delivery fee. They usually keep around 2/3rds

I assumed so, but they aren't like waiters or car washers that make like $2.50 an hour are they?
Let's say he makes $4/hour. JJ does a good job of fast service so let's say the guy does 5 deliveries an hour and gets $2 each time. That's $14/hour to deliver sandwiches. Not bad.

Stupid question. What would you tip any other company. Or are you just in love with Drew ?

$5 minimum regardless of amount

I can promise you that if everyone he delivered to tipped him 2 bucks, he'd be ecstatic.

Giving him that much, you're not really shafting him.

Usually tip all delivery drivers $5. Regardless of total.
$5 is the minimum acceptable tip for any check amount unless you are tipping per drink at the bar, in which case $1/drink

Dominos keeps all of it. That's why I try to never to delivery with them.
I would say $2 on $8 is good.
