You need to do more than text him the number. Speak with him, dont text. Ask him if he is seriously considering suicide to tonight. If so you need to intervene and call the police to do a wellness check. Keep talking to him or go there yourself. Or go there and call the suicide hotline and hand him the phone. People who are looking for help usually tell someone like he did to you. Dont be passive. Take action.

Call the cops and request an order of protective custody. Especially if he has a gun in the house this is what I would do.

People take fantasy football way too seriously.

I disagree. People who talk about it are reaching out. Act now. Get your friend help.

It was rough tonight cause I had no idea if his cousin was taking care of it and I felt like if he wasnt, I needed to and I dont really know the guy and I'm 2000 miles away

Do you know any of her family members? I would talk to them about helping her

I think the best thing you can do for your friend right now is be there for him. And while he's a little confused, talk him into trading some of his best players to you. But that's just me...

Yea its rough. How serious does she sound? If it she really sounds serious I would think about reaching out. In the mean time, I would do everything I could to show her I was there for her and that she wasnt alone. But yea, it's tough trying to balance what's being pushy and whats...you know, trying to keep another person alive

I felt that way too, my sons ex has used that as a threat against him for the last year, every time they would argue and he wouldn’t respond to her she would threaten to harm herself, and I always figured it was just a manipulation tactic and I’d call her parents to come get her or he would talk to her, three weeks ago she swallowed a handful of pills in my driveway and ended up in a mental hospital for a few weeks. I don’t wish dealing with a mentally unstable person on anyone. It’s a burden for sure. Don’t trust anything they say.

He is reaching out for help. Must treat all of these as if the person is serious. Risk is too great to take it lightly unless person has a history of bluffing.

Let him know he is valuable and many people love him. Encourage in to do something kind for someone else. This builds self-worth.

Have people follow up with him and have them give him a call just to say hello or have a short conversation. Do this over the next few weeks.

Hopefully they can help him, some people will reject the help even when they really need it.

yikes. i think the best thing you can do is simply make sure shes knows that you care and are there for her

if that means trying to talk to her one night about how you worry about her, without being pushy obviously, then so be it. but it feels like this guy, and her as well, just need to know that people care about them. thats what this guy was talking about tonight. just how alone he feels

That’s the plan.

I’ve kinda been waiting for her to have a “moment” again to really get into how she’s feeling but I think I can do better and start a conversation about how I care and how I’m here for her.

Hammer home, that his actions will cause irreversible pain to those he loves the most.

His actions will hurt those he loves the most until the day they're in the ground.

Also, he's going to burn in hell for killing himself.

all of my family members and friends my age are married, engaged or cohabiting

this makes me feel alone maybe he is experiencing similarly?

not gonna lie it’s the first time I have felt the whole die alone fear, I know this is my emotion getting to my head and it will pass.

but I already feel like the odd man out for a lack of better term.

thankfully we still have bros nights out and what not but when we do things as a friend group with their girlfriends/wives, I am the only one who is single sleeping with random tinder girls and sometimes it feels weird to be around all of them.

my family is already putting the pressure on me and it’s only a matter of time before one of my friends girlfriends/wives tries to set me up with someone especially because I’m an 8/10 guy with a good job.

idk. sometimes I think about just buying a van and going vanlife for a year

sry to vent
