Sanchos has the best street tacos in San Antonio that I found so far. Kind of off the beaten path, but definitely worth it.

Check out the Emily Morgan hotel. Allegedly haunted. Used to be a hospital / morgue. Near the Alamo. Missing the 13th floor. I dunno I was drunk at the time. Kind of fun.

Howl at the Moon if you’ve never been. Dueling piano bar. Spent Halloween night there. Had a blast.

Go to Pinkerton's BBQ, and get some glazed ribs. Best pork rib in Texas, and on the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ joints list if that matters. IIRC you can walk to Pinkerton's from the Riverwalk.

The other very underrated option is County Line BBQ right on the Riverwalk. Most don't know how to order there and just order "brisket" expecting the cut you get at the craft BBQ places. Instead, order 2nd cut brisket and the beef ribs (NOT the pork ribs, which are mediocre). Ask for all three varieties of sauce, or they will just bring you their traditional and kind of bland IMO base sauce. The blueberry cobbler if they have it is outstanding, and I like the coleslaw but it is different from what you might expect. The house-made white bread is also very good.

I've been there a million times. The best thing to do there is leave.

After you visit the Alamo, wander out into the countryside and visit other mission churches.

I was fortunate to visit some of them in early December on a cold and dreary day and we were the only people there. (This was before they got to be a UNESCO site). The feel is there when the tourists aren't.

I’ve stayed at the EM a couple of times. My first experience, when I walked inside my hotel room, I noticed the temperature dropped from room temperature to at least 15 to 20 degrees cooler in a matter of seconds, and only for a few seconds.

After that, no other “activity.” That night, I stayed on the 7th floor. I’ve walked all the hallways, and even the stairwell.

Good hotel, right by the Alamo.

Stayed here before. Nice boutique hotel, didn't realize it was haunted!
