It's unfortunate because USPS has been by far the most reliable shipping carrier. It seems as if Baton Rouge and other local southern facilities are getting worse compared to others.

I told this story here before but it bares repeating when USPS comes up.
Ordered a package that shipped via DHL from mainland China. Gets to the constitution USPO in BR. My office is 3 streets over and they fricking lose it. Most inept group of people ever to exist on the fricking planet.

I think they should not provide that level of tracking information.
That's part of the problem. Compared to UPS/Fed Ex, the USPS tracking software is useless. It indicates when it was shipped, but doesn't usually provide anymore tracking until the package is delivered. Around here, packages frequently stay in Shreveport for days on end.

The New Orleans Distribution Center has been sitting with my package in their facility for 6 days with "package has been delayed" as only other info under the tracking number.
Someone snail mailed me a letter from SC to Metairie and it took 2 weeks.
Informed Delivery gives me anxiety knowing it's there but it is not.
USPS lost $9.5B last year and $6.5B the year before.
They need to get their shite together.

Instead of having protests outside the post offices (there was one in NO yesterday) they should be inside sorting mail.
Today, news reported that 10K postal workers have accepted a buyout for their jobs.

Is everyone seeing 3-5 day delays on packages?
Yes. I’ve been ordering parts from all over, and trying to finish a project so ordering more online than probably ever before and it’s been frustrating to say the least. Also tax time so lots of mail (has to be certified)
Right now waiting on Priority shipment from Phenix City, AL. It’s been at 5 different distribution points, so never had a chance of making it on time.

It seems like the Baton Rouge sorting facility is some kind of black hole.
Same with Nola. Takes just as long to get out of Nola to the Northshore as it took to get there from other parts of the country. Easily taking twice as long for every mail class. I sent something certified to the LA gov in BR from Northshore and it took 9 days.
Was at the PO the other day some poor old foreign man was looking for his package, waited in line 30+ minutes showing the clerk his tracking detail. The clerk suggested filing an online inquiry. The guy was confused and finally the other clerk spoke up and said the sorting machine in NOLA was down, and they had been sending everything to HOUSTON to get sorted.
UPS has been bad too. I’m waiting on another next day air saver package, last one too 5 days this one is on day 4 and it’s in Billings, MT and started in Denver, CO. I should have received it yesterday and it’s 50% further away from where it started.
This is another form of inflation by the way

It’s 2025 and you’re just now realizing that USPS is by and far the most inferior way to have anything delivered?
I’d rather pay the UPS shipping price than get “free shipping” from USPS when making a purchase.

Yes… I recently had a package that stayed at the BR center for over 3 weeks before moving to the next hub. I called and went in to check on package, finally started getting feedback from the destination hub saying it was never received and still in BR. It finally arrived 30 days after shipping.

Everything I've ordered in the last two weeks that has come into the Shreveport hub is getting held up for days. I've got replacement parts for my mower that are 5 days behind schedule along with some other items. I've got a replacement rocker panel that is currently 10 days behind for my vehicle restoration I'm doing and it's seriously holding up my progress.
In the same time frame, anything shipped by UPS or FedEx has arrived on time or ahead of schedule.

He ordered the removal of sorting machines that he says were outdated (major fiasco in Houston because the new sorting machines brought in didn’t even fit, so they weren’t even able to install them).
Explain to me how the post office can't knock out walls or add space to fit newer more efficient machines.
Sounds like a BS political excuse from a liberal run POS.

It's the same in Atlanta. It's not just a Baton Rouge thing. It's a national problem.

It’s probably sitting right next to my package that has been at the New Orleans Distribution center for the past 5 days. It made it from Pennsylvania in 49 hours to New Orleans but can’t make it from New Orleans to Covington in 6 days.

I would almost bet my salary that there are more black USPS employees in Louisiana than there are in Idaho and Utah combined.....
Idaho has less black people than that.

Yeah this definitely seems like a new phenomenon. I order stuff pretty regularly and usually if something is squirrelly it’s an anomaly here and there. It seems like something is currently up for this many packages to be so haywire.
