re: What size storm would force you to evacuate?

Hurricane Katrina was a Cat 5 when I reverse-evacuated from CENLA TO New Orleans to ride the storm out there.

Scottsdale AZ and any sized hurricane would have me leaving

Living in Baton Rouge, no need to evacuate...ever. No trees around my house. At worst there would be roof damage if we had strong enough winds. It is rare to get winds above 90 MPH here, so it would take a direct hit from a Cat 4 or higher and that may never happen in my lifetime. I can deal with power going out, if the place was bad enough I would head to TX and stay with family until things were up and running but I wouldn't want to leave my house and belongings.

I think my MIL is supposed to have her generator installed soon, that pretty much guarantees that A) a storm will hit right before it is to be installed or B) we will never have another storm in our lifetime.

Any mandatory evacuation we're gone. My husband has made that clear but we live in south Vermilion parish about 20 miles or less from the coast.

I wanted to stay for Lili, I'm from north of I-10. He basically said "shut up and pack your stuff" but he said it nicely. When the parish deputies come for your next of kin names, well it's scary stuff!

Have to be at least a Cat 3.
