What sentimental things do you keep around you?

Not specifically what you keep at your house, but what you keep in your vehicle, at the office or work, school, etc.

My mom died back in May from Dementia and my family just sold her house in Mandeville. Instead of just throwing away her house key (new owners changed the locks), I put it on my key chain as a keepsake so that every time I look at it, I'll remember her and all the memories that are tied up in that house.

Grandparents old house got torn down by new owner. I had an uncle go get a couple pices of scrap wood. No idea what to do with them.

Have a 50 cent piece my grandpaw had in his pocket when taken to the hospital the last time.

Don't know how much you have, but you could do something as simple as building a picture frame and pictures of them or go as far making a table out of it.

Or do their last name and date by using a router. Even simple stuff could turn into something cool.

Paternal grandparents were avid square dancers... I’ve worn a few of my grandpa’s bolo ties as necklaces.

Also, not an object, but I’m starting to notice that I have my mother’s hands. I love knowing that one day when she’s gone, I’ll still see her hands.

I always wear a nail cross on a rope that my daughter gave me 10 years ago.

Got an old leather dog collar from the best dog I ever had sitting on a work bench in my garage. I can't seem to make myself throw it away

I do not get attached to "stuff" at all. My father passed away last year and my sisters and I were at his house the next week going through stuff and they kept every little sentimental thing. Only things I took were things I could use like cast iron pots and extension cords

Am I a cold hearted bastard?

I have a yellow rose from both my maw maw and paw paw’s funeral that was part of the bouquet draped over the coffin. I keep them in the refrigerator and they have been in surprisingly good shape for over 10 years.

Same here, though obviously we don’t carry them around.
My first “real” guitar was a Les Paul Custom Black Beauty that I got in ‘81 when I was in 8th grade. It rarely leaves the case. I’s too heavy for my bad back, and I prefer the neck on my Jackson RR. But I’ll never part with that Les Paul. And I’m not holding onto it because of the constant increase in value, because I will never sell it anyway. I’ll pass it down to my kid who doesn’t play guitar, but who I know won’t sell it.

That’s what I’m thinking. It’s just a couple pieces of exterior 1x4. Probably total 30-36”

I'll buy it off you. The LP custom in black is my favorite guitar, love that '59 feel.
