So tell me again why nurses across America are always going on strike?
Well it's not all nurses because not every state has nursing unions. AZ does not so you will not hear about nursing strikes.
Many times it isn't pay they are striking over. Hospitals all over the country are dealing with budget issues. Usually one way they try to deal with a budget crisis is in nursing. They will increase the amount of patients a nurse is supposed to care for. Or stop hiring new nurses when other nurses leave. Or take away nursing assistants on floors and have the nurses do all their own patient care. Less nurses/less staff is less they have to pay them.
Many nurses are striking over this. Increased nurse-patient ratios or not having ancillary staff to help can be very unsafe. Studies have even shown that increases in patient mortality rates can be directly correlated to increases in nurse to patient ratios. Yet hospitals still continue to expect their nurses to care for more patients to save them money. No matter how unsafe it is.
Great pay only goes so far when you start getting scared that you could actually hurt someone because you don't have the help you need. That great pay won't help a nurse if she loses her license.

$100K without having to make any decisions. Must be nice.

You really can't think that nurses don't make decisions

Most of my coworkers have children. And they still love having 4 days off.
For example, if I ever do have a baby....I can make my schedule to where I'm working mostly weekends. Then I'm off all during the week when my husband is working. $$$$$ saved in not having to pay for daycare. I know many nurses that did this. They eventually stopped doing all weekends once the baby was a little older and they weren't paying the more expensive baby daycare rates.

While yes, I must have a doctor's order to do stuff as a nurse.....how do you think many of those orders came about?
From the nurse that is at the patient's bedside at least every hour noticing changes in the patient's condition and her nursing assessment. And then that nurse notifying the doctor of these changes and asking for those orders.

so never be home with your spouse at the same time?
and majority of daycares don't care how many days you put the kid in daycare, they still charge the same per week, whether you use it 1 day or all 5 days
but my point was mostly about scheduling and routine, as young kids thrive on very strict schedules
obviously plenty of people make it work, I'd just hate it

Or we could pay nurses 45k and double the workforce.

I have an aunt that lives here that doesn't work. If I wanted to work during the week to have more weekends off I know that we could pay her to come over to our home and care for the baby for like 6-7 hours while I slept during the day.
My husband would love for me to work days as well. Mainly cause I think he is terrified to have to care for a baby by himself all night while I'm at work
Right now...working nights works very well for us. I'm fully aware that could change. But I personally enjoy working nights more(and like more $$$$)...so I will continue doing that as long as it works best. In the end though, I'm gonna base those decisions on what works best for my family. It's just a job in the big picture. Family and my marriage comes first.

There is a massive shortage now, but think cutting the pay 50% will increase the workforce...
Sounds legit

No shite. Especially when you have many nurses leaving RN bedside roles all together more and more, not because their pay sucks, but because of all the bullshite from administration.

4 days off a week is very legit, all while making 6 figures.

If you don't have a ton money, just be good looking. Start working out and cleaning up your face. Believe it or not, women like good looking men.

Looks wear off with the quickness once the chick finds out you have no money and have a shitty or no job. Chicks want security and a man that earns 6 figures plus.
