Possibly having dirt on people or the control to limit the non work sites they visit at work is power.

HR determines the websites you can visit and they have all the dirt as well. Previous corporation that I worked for had a special inbox setup to filter out emails that would contain “naughty” language or photos which was monitored by HR.

McClelland's Human Motivation Theory states that every person has one of three main driving motivators: the needs for achievement, affiliation, or power. These motivators are not inherent; we develop them through our culture and life experiences.

The guy who's job it is to cut/restore the electrical power to homes for non-payment.

I worked as a manager trainee at Aaron Rents for three weeks at the end of December. I had to go out and repo furniture, and appliances. One day I went to an apartment to repo a TV. The man who rented it, and his son, were sitting in the living room watching the TV, waiting for an Alabama bowl game to come on. The little boy had on an Alabama sweatshirt. The guy said if you have to take it take it. I took it.

It bothers me that I didn't just go back to the store and say no one was home. I'd gone to one other renter's apartment, and got enough money to let that guy keep his TV. Because the guy had his kid there, wanting to watch the game, I feel like I was an A-hole for taking that TV.

I did a little managing, when I sold advertising for a paper in Dallas. I kept my accounts, but also got paid on how well new salespeople did while I helped train them. It reached a point where I had to decide between management, and sales. I stayed with sales, even though they wanted me to manage. Stayed there, in sales, for another eight years after that.

Police is a big one. A lot of authority for not a ton of qualifications. Not that I’m a cop hater, but I appreciate that there is a level of abuse that exists with certain officers.

Retail management is another one. If you have a college degree and show any kind of skills, it’s easy to have people by the balls in certain areas.

I think judges have a ton of influence over people’s lives. I know they’re typically very educated and elected, but judges can be total dicks.

My vote is politicians. Unless you strongly believe in public service, I think a thirst for power is mandated to be a politician. There are some real narcissistic assholes in politics.

I think a lot of politicians used to get into it to for idealistic reasons. They really want to make changes. The system is just so corrupt, they either start to enjoy it, and become outright evil, or they see what it's about and quit.

Today's candidates pretty much know what it is. It's a job for bloodsuckers. There are plenty of them out there.
