What Percentage Of Stuff Could You Throw Away In Your House?

If you went through your entire house getting rid of shite you don't need, what percentage of stuff do you think you could get rid of. For me, I would say maybe 20% or so.

I'd start with my wife. Then go from there.

We moved a few months ago and basically threw away a truck load of (u haul junk or similar) I went into the new house attic and there are more damn boxes - geez. Purge

What percentage would she make up?

This is a damn good question.
I keep half of my shite for sentimental reasons. If I were to keep only what I actually regularly have a use for, I'd bet I could get rid of 70% of it all.

I would say 20% is a good estimate. Then again, I only have access to about 20% of the House because I have been married for 17 years.

This bullshite wheelchair I have is just collecting dust, I can throw that away. And some dried up condoms. IDK 2% of my stuff is trash, I guess.

I have a wife and kids. Could throw away 80%

At least 20%, probably more if I really tried. My wife likes to "keep things" just in case she needs them in the future. We've got crap that hasn't been used in years gathering dust in the storage area that can be tossed tomorrow.
Her 2 grown kids have left stuff behind that could be tossed to the curb or donated to Goodwill but NO, they may need it one day. Funny thing is, they never take it when they visit. I bet we have 3-4 boxes of VCR tapes and DVD's that haven't been looked at in years. Hell, we no longer have the equipment to play them.
I'm also betting there are 5-6 boxes of old books in novels, children's books, comic books etc.

I just installed a air conditioner contactor/relay. I had been hoarding it for 15 years
Think about your clothes closet. I could throw out 80%!

99% because my life partner is a hoarder.

I do a purge every so often. If I haven’t used it in the last year, it goes to the curb

We could lose 50% and not miss it. I keep thinking of the 2016 flood. People lost so much. It's just perspective to think if you lost everything, what would you truly miss?

I have no clue. Our house isn’t cluttered at all, but we don’t technically need some furniture or as many dishes.
