Not much. Moving this weekend and was initially excited about going through everything and throwing a ton of shite out. Then remembered we've already done a "purge" twice in the last 3 years. So far we've only filled up one kitchen trashbag worth of stuff

I've got some old mattresses and a bunch of burned out CFL bulbs and used motor oil that have been sitting in my garage for years. I'd bring it to the lake but there's too many people around who won't mind their own business. I guess when we move I'll just hide it up in the attic for the next owner to deal with.

Including the basement, about 50%.

I don't know, let me spend the next two days creating a database and then I'll get back to you.
Not as much now since I cleared out a lot of shite when I moved three years ago.

There's a service station near my house that takes all my old motor oil and peanut oil I use to fry turkeys.
They have a large in-ground holding tank that they get drained every so often and get paid for the oil they accumulate, so my oil added to their tank is a win/win for them and it gets it recycled for me with no trouble.
I hope you were kidding about the lake.......

Ask anyone who has been through a flood or fire. The answer is about 99% of things are not essentials.

I bet you were going to tell me dumping it down a storm drain is a better option. That's what my buddy Fred tells me to do.

Been doing a little remodeling at the house and we've seriously thrown out a solid 30-40% of shite that was in our house.

I lost just about everything in the 2016?flood and realized I didn’t need all that stuff anyways. When you lose everything your perspective is different. I could get rid of about 95% of things bc I can live without those material things.
Now I think about it my husband and I don’t even have our own living room furniture (besides the recliner I bought for him) nor a dining room table. They were all given to us with the house since we had nothing.

Maybe down to 5-10%. Wife did a big purge when we found out we were expecting.
But define need.... Do I need crystal, china, and silver? Probably don't need it, but it's nice to have a few times a year.

I'd start with my wife. Then go from there.
Chances are she'd say the same thing about her husband

Oh HELL no. Just see if any gas stations around you take it and be done with it. I've got a full size pickup, a Camry and a big cruiser M/C and do all my oil changes, plus peanut oil from frying turkeys during the year. In all, at least 10 gallons a year worth of oil and they are happy to take it off my hands.

Any 80s or 90s porn on them boxes?
Nah, mostly movies, comedy specials or old series we'd tape to fast forward through and get past the damn commercials when watching it.

I came here to post almost the same thing. After the flood, I lost probably 95% of my belongings. It was a wake up call. Of all of our shite we have now, I’m probably at close to a 90% efficiency rating. Meaning that I could throw away about 10% without having to replace anything.

20% sounds about right. Much higher for garage.
And the purge will be happening soon.
Very soon.

We purge 1-2 times a year and always toss a bunch of shite. Bi annual purges are a necessity in home ownership.
