For the most part, relationships grew organically. We grab drinks once a month or so. We are all on the same page in terms of what we do.

I do have one woman I work with who is known for not being great at her job. She can’t do anything for herself. She’s super emotional. The worst part is, she will talk forever. I used to wear earbuds in hopes that it would deter her from talking to me. It didn’t work. She would start motioning with her hands to get my attention.

She also doesn’t know how to function in practical situations. She is probably in her late 50’s, and I assume what she wears now is what she wore about 20 years ago in terms of style.

She’s a Disney fan girl. She’s a one-upper in terms of negativity. If you had an issue with something, she’s had one worse. The problem is, she garners sympathy from outsiders.

Last but not least, she’s managed to put up a facade that makes people think she’s good at her job. It’s almost brilliant, but she hasn’t done it on purpose.

I have "work-friendly" relationships with most of my co-workers.

I'm on good terms with almost everyone.

I do not associate with these people outside of work.

I have nearly 40,000 co-workers and I never see any of them. I have one meeting every other year where I see 15-30 of the higher ups, and maybe 2 times a year I see my immediate superior. Outside of that, never.

Made good friends with a few over the years. Keep in sporadic touch with many others from previous jobs.

I used to hang out with them more, but weekends of dragging kids to cheerleading, band, and a multitude of sports...coupled with a desire to relax more with my free time has changed my priorities with regard to hanging out with other teachers.
