GE french door FTW

i have had nothing but fantastic experiences with GE as a whole. to the point that our washer, dryer, fridge, stove, and dishwasher are all GE.

we got this fridge last year

LINK

and it has been money.

one of my favorite features is that the water spout is on the inside of the fridge and doesn't ugly up the front.

I can vouch for LG being hot garbage. Compressor went out in under 2 years. But here's the thing, our box was a Kenmore Elite according to the box and badging. When it broke we found out it was an LG underneath. We should have figured that out when the filter replacement was an LG filter.

So be aware of that and do your research first.

eta: we have a Fridgedair now that the only bell and whistle it has is an ice maker. And my beer box in my shed is ~25yrs old right now, still cold AF, has never given us even one iota of problems and is a Fridgedair.

OP not sure where you are located but here you go

Refrigerator for sale
$1,000

Counter depth LG French door refrigerator and freezer in black stainless steel purchased in 2016 for $2200. Minor cosmetic defect (see pic) but runs fine. Selling because we remodeled our kitchen and bought a bigger one. Specs are in the photos too. Must pick up. DM if interested.

LG French door/bottom freezer with ice in the drawer. Door ice/water dispensers have had issues freezing up on these, so I stuck with the drawer dispenser.

BTW...I actually have 2 identical units, and both have been rock solid. With 3 teenage boys and a Food Scientist wife (no pics), we need a lot of cold food storage.

We are leaning towards french door models with the freezer at the bottom.

Had LG, Samsung, and Bosch versions and none have gone more than a year or two with developing problems. Basically it's a crap design, get a good traditional side-by-side or top-freezer model.

I bought a new fridge in the not so distant past.

Signed up for an on-line subscription to Consumer Reports (just for one month, then I cancelled). Read all the reviews on all the refrigerator options and brands.

Turns out GE had the best ratings on ice makers and a significant number of brands had subpar ratings on ice makers. I like ice, so I got the GE. Makes great ice.

I got the side-by-side. Talked to my co-workers about the bottom drawer freezer. Lots of negative comments--can't find stuff because it's buried under other stuff, ice in bottom not not convenient, etc.

I've had my LG french door for 6+ years and not a single issue. My moms whirlpool constantly leaks.

Just bought that and all three other appliances as a package from Costco for $2400. Normally $6.5k. The oven is a double door for cooking at 2 different temps. Free delivery and haul away.

Hopefully I’ll be outta the house by the time they frick up.

They probably have already started fricking up, you just don't know about it yet. Samsung kitchen appliances are terrible and and their customer service is even worse. Bought a house in 2018 with all new Samsung appliances. The dishwasher started screwing up within a couple months that we have just learned to live with. The oven is really poorly made; anytime you have it on the top range gets dangerously hot, almost as if the burners were on low. I've burned myself multiple times moving an empty pot around on the stove when something was in the oven not anticipating that it would be that hot. Don't get me started with the refrigerators. Samsung knows it makes faulty products and you have to be extremely committed to fighting with them to get any kind of refund. The ice makers constantly freeze up, there is a known defect with the drain line freezing up, and the compressors are shite. We had our fridge go out in July and I fought with them for 3 months trying to get someone to look at it or fix it, most appliance repair shops will refuse to work on Samsung. We lived out of a mini fridge the whole time and I just kept bugging the shite out of them, even filing a complaint with the BBB of New Jersey (that's where their headquarters are). That seemed to make a huge difference because they finally offered me a refund in early October but even that was a huge pain in the arse. We bought a GE and have been happy with that
