Our main refrigerator recently went out so we are stuck using our smaller garage fridge. We are leaning towards french door models with the freezer at the bottom. My wife likes the models with the access door on the front that you can touch and see inside without opening the door. She has been looking at an LG model online but I have heard mixed reviews on them. I am a tight arse so I am looking to stay under 2k. TIA.

The more crap you have on a refrigerator, the more its gonna break. Dont get the screens and stuff.

LG french door style and I absolutely adore it.

I've had it since 2014.

I've had success with Whirlpool and Frigidaire.

The bells and whistles on these tech company fridges are just things that break and are unnecessary. You want a reliable place to keep food cold and the OG brands do that and have some sleek designs now too.

I don't need a fridge app that alerts me when eggs are low. How fricking stupid.

ETA:

I promise in 15 years there won't be old LG or Samsung fridges still kicking like tanks in people's garages full of beer.

Do not buy an LG. We’re on our third compressor and it’s only two years old.

Samsung model with French doors-small drawer and bottom freezer on sale at Lowes or HD for $1999. We have had ours for 9 years with no problems.

I have a GE now. Do not buy Samsung. That Samsung quit at 10 months and even though it was till under warranty, no one would fix it and it took 5 months to get a refund.

I will say my only issue is the ice it makes inside the bin of the door will sometimes freeze up and we have to empty the bin manually or else it won't dispense.

From my understanding this happens to many ice maker machines that are in the door of a french style. Or they will have some other type of issue. A buddy of mine just got a brand new Whirpool and their ice machine/water dispenser is already having major issues.

I have not had any other issue with the LG. We just keep ice on hand inside the freezer. I can't say enough how much I love the french style refrigerators.. The amount of room side to side is very useful.

Our kitchen has all Samsung appliances. They're ok, but not what we would have chosen. If you want a nice big screen tv, Samsung is great. Refrigerators, not so much.

Have had an LG French door, bottom freezer for almost 12 years now. No issues to note other than some unobtainable electrical part going out. I pulled up the wiring diagram, homemade a jumper, and fixed it myself.

So yeah, probably don’t buy an LG.

What year is yours? They did have a settlement on certain models. You may be eligible for this.. If you are not aware, please check this link.

My LG is from 2014 and I have not had any issues with the compressor.

In-laws had a Samsung go out on them within a year. Good friend of mine had an LG go out on him within a year.

I would avoid LG and Samsung when it comes to appliances other than TVs.

We have all Frigidaire kitchen appliances. So far they have held up well.

I can say it will be a cold day in hell before I take a hard look at another LG or Samsung appliance. Have had both (not fridges) and was disappointed with the quality of both.

I have a Maytag side by side, french doors with freezer on bottom. MFI2570FEZ. Been a good fridge, only complaint is that the actuator in the ice dispenser keeps the door open a little longer than needed, so sometimes you walk away after getting ice and another cube falls out. But if I don't have any other issues beyond that, meh...I'll take it.

I think Whirlpool owns Maytag now, for what that's worth.

Yes. We received our letter to join the lawsuit last week. Needed a specific size French door refrigerator to fit our space, and LG was the only option.
