This is the first hurricane season we have a for real generator. So i didn't prep much.
But i saw this earlier- Someone at the grocery today had to make a dire last minute decision

Usually just make sure I have enough decent wine to hold me over until the Cajun Navy can come get me

Filled up the cars, picked up the furniture on the deck in the backyard and got a fifth of bourbon. Thats about the extent of it.

On a scale from 1-10, I’m probably a 2-3

I have some mountain house meals and a few MREs from Gustav. Also have water treatment tabs from camping trips and such. Propane burner outside. I'm good

2.5. I got some stuff to grill and a bag of ice so when I get tired of beer I can switch to crown and coke. Planning to get some Chinese takeout for lunch before the rain gets bad.

I spend most of my time shifting around workout equipment, tool chests, table saw, lawn equipment and workbench so I can get all 3 cars in the garage. Fortunately, I have accordion shutters and don’t have to spend all day protecting window openings. We freeze a lot of water and stock up on bread, tuna, cereal and keep a cooler full of items that can be grilled. Then I just plant my arse in front of the Weather Channel and figure out where I will be working for the next couple of months since I’m an insurance adjuster.

I feel too much responsibility to keep my family safe and happy to be nonchalant about it. I am usually a procrastinator but I had everything stocked Wednesday afternoon and tested my generator Thursday.

I’ve gone significant periods of time with no phone and would probably assume that the generation one gen before millennials would very literally combust without a phone, fidget spinner or tablet of some sort attatched to them.
Am I doing this right?

Somebody said it earlier in this thread and it’s genius.
Power goes out, vehicle provides an easy source to charge phones, laptops, tablets etc.

Plus AC
But jokes aside it’s also primarily for when post storm you need to drive out of town if things went poorly.

My brother and I bought 100 dollars worth of alcohol. A couple cases of water as well.
