This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff.
It's amazing how many people who haven't seen Caddyshack

Centipede, Mandeville. Would like to replace entire lawn it sucks. PS - I have a large mostly shaded area in my backyard. What kind of grass is best for south Louisana heat + shade?
Mick St Augustine does really well in shade. Centipede needs sun.
OP I have centipede and live south of I-10 in the Mobile area. In my previous house I had Empire Zoysia and really liked it. I once lived in Little Rock and everyone had burmuda grass and it was okay but was tough to keep it weed free.

Bermuda. Current package bomb capital of America.

Central alabama:
Bermuda (mostly) , but now the poa annua is growing.
That will die out in about a month or so.
Most yards around here are either Bermuda or Centipede, with a few zoysia yards.
St. Augustine looks good, but you need a strand that can handle the cold a little better.

Front is stones.
Back is whatever grass the person planted before me used.
I see her around. Ill ask her.
3 fruit trees in back.
Pear and apricot and apple.
I hear the apples are cooking at best. I like pears. There were a ton last year.
There is a pine and a eucalyptus. I have to negotiate to take down eucalyptus. I hear its been suggested and shot down.
I will offer 2 more fruit trees and beautify front.
Northern CA in the lee of lake which often makes morning fog.
Not high but mountains all around. Snow capped today. Glorious.
Snow last night. Housemate, yes her again, took a mountain road home yesterday in the middle of the after noon and got snowed on hard at altitude. I told her to use lower elevation or surely face hail but she was independent.
I'm teased by garden center offerings but waiting until it stops snowing.
Lawn is dumb here. No rain from June to October or November. Not much in May.
Its cold enough for pears.

Tall fescue. North Carolina. Hate it. Have to aerate and reseed every year. Hate it.

Ascension Parish. Crab grass.

St. Augustine in the front.
Empire Zoysia in the back. I absolutely freaking love the Zoysia. A tad more maintenance, but the traffic, heat, and drought tolerance make up for it.
Metairie, LA
