It's not your cat. You're his human.

Doesn't matter.

A male needs to be by himself. Females need another female friend.

Fix them and declaw them if inside cats. Which I would suggest to keep them cleaner and to keep fleas out of the house.

Don't get more than two. Ever.

Don't declaw them. Imagine someone cutting the last knuckle off of each your fingers. It doesn't sound pleasant does it?

Cats rock, zero maintenance. Wanna leave town for 2 weeks? Food and water. I inherited a dog, who I love, but goddamn it's like having a kid. A cat requires nothing and all of mine were like dogs, came over when you called 'em.

A Maine Coon is the only acceptable breed of cat to own since they act like dogs and hunt like a mother fricker.

Get a manx or a bobtail of some sort. Those and Maine Coons act a lot like dogs. Plus - It's a conversation piece.

DO NOT declaw. Get a scratching post and a water squirt bottle...Make time to train good habits so you don't have to untrain bad ones.

Maine coons are awesome. There are a few breeds of cats that are cool. You really just want a cat that is chill and likes to lay around, but that will get a little wild sometimes. Not some skittish cat that hides under the bed and pisses everywhere.

Regarding declawing..if the cat ever got out it would have no way to defend itself.
