Crying babies don't bother me. It's the parents of said baby who don't make any attempt to calm the baby down, just walking around as if "this is what they do". I saw one in a store this past weekend, baby losing it's mind, mother just persuing through the clothes wrack as if nothing was happening. I can't stand that crap at all.

It's not a matter of "importance". With the $25 charge for checked baggage, everyone is trying to carry on at all costs. Overhead space is at a premium, and for someone to try to carry on a guitar that takes up that much space is garbage.

I've been on several flights where someone brings on a guitar. It always has gone in the storage areas at the front or back of the plane, never above the seats.
