I used to work for a company that sold advertising space in malls. I designed and implemented their digital network, just large scale LCD screens that rotated ads.
The CEO had written into all sales contracts that there were a limited number of ads that could be run on the screen at any give time, I think the number was 5 or 7.
That served a couple of purposes, premium locations had a little more demand due to the limitations and they could charge more. It also guaranteed advertisers a certain amount of exposure.
Well CEO got the bright idea that we would no longer tell clients that certain spots were sold out when they were full, he wanted to sell the space anyway and not post their ads. If they noticed, we would make it up by extending their time or offering them free space in areas that weren't sold out.
When he presented this, several of us stood up and told him that it was illegal and dishonest. One person even presented an article where a competitor had done the same thing and was hit with a major law suit over it.
We had a few people quit as a result and he finally backed off on it. The company folded about 5 years later due to his BS.

Salesman of any kind
You realize that just about every profession is sales, right?
Doctor—sells you on the fact he can cure you
Lawyer—sells you on the fact he can get you out of trouble
Accountant—sells you on the fact he can keep your finances in order
Business owner—sells you on the fact his product and services are better than others
Nick Saban—sells kids on the fact that they will have a ring if they come and play 3 years
Headmaster (private)—sells people that their kids will get into top notch colleges
College administrators—sells parents and kids that they prepare kids for life ahead
Oil field Baw—sells rig operator on the fact that he can run arse all night in his F-250 and
still make it to the platform in time to turn them wrenches.
...and on, and on, and on...
Life lesson—the world is for sale. If you aren’t selling your self, your services, or your business, you will be closing up shop in short order.

From a certain point of view. I’m specifically speaking about the account manager/outside sales role whose job it is to lie about their products and services.

Male Stripper. I personally believe I wouldn’t be getting many referrals and it’s a referral reliant kind of business.
In all seriousness, Sales of any kind. It’s so cringeworthy to me and a dog eat dog mentality doesn’t work for me.
