measles and COVID are not even in the same ballpark as far as danger imposed to children.

I understand that COVID has changed the landscape and shifted views but disease immunity has always been a communal issue in a society from a science and thus public policy POV.
Good point. So now that everyone cares about ridding the world of disease, let's rid the world of diabetes. Get rid of fast food. Punish people for poor life choices that contribute to diabetes. Raise their health insurance; make them exercise and eat right or fire them.
But we can't do that, because that's fat shaming. I don't care that it's not the same as COVID because it doesn't put others at risk (COVID doesn't either if you've been vaccinated). It just goes to show that some diseases are perfectly acceptable in this society--some of which are contributing to the COVID deaths. Instead of promoting healthier living to prevent the severe outcomes that we've seen In addition to other preventative measures like vaccines, we push a temporary fix.
Nothing will change about this country after this is over. People will continue to eat crap and live unhealthy lives.
Disease immunity is only a communal issue when it puts others at risk, some of which are only at risk because of their own poor life choices.

Interesting that in countries with significant vaccinated population Covid cases are soaring and deaths too. The vaccine works for 3 months, and the booster too

Cities and school districts have tried it and they were called commies that hated personal choice and freedom. Which is it?
This thread is solid gold. I was just talking to someone taking about how we used to clown the Jenny McCarthy anti-vaxxers of the world. Sad how things change in such a short amount of time.

I think the idea is that we are supposed to ignore any data from other countries if it doesn’t fit the narrative.

Nice bump, interesting replies. Yet it has nothing to do with the experimental Covid vaccine.

IYO when does each COVID vaccine shift from "experimental" to "not experimental"?

While I agree in principle with what you're saying, you picked a crap example
We were giving polio shots to kids for 20+ years before we started not seeing cases.
So i guess we do this for another 20+ years until no more covid cases? A disease thats not really affecting and paralyzing a shite load of children. You know, the future workers and military personnel of our country?

Until we have more than a year or so to look at it. Can you name me a vaccine that has been rushed so quickly?
And this isn’t even a vaccine.
And this isn’t even a vaccine.

Who is being intolerant? I gave my opinion on people making choices and what they should be prepared to deal with as a consequence of that choice. Or do you feel like only certain people have a right to make a choice? Otherwise please explain how the people you are referring to are intolerant.
It seems to me that you are the one who is intolerant of someone's choice because it might impact you in a manner that you don't want it to. That's a bitch move.

Not vaccinated, don't run to the hospital if you get sick
Not vaccinated, be prepared to pay for your own hospital stay if your insurance makes a choice not to cover Covid Infections.
Not vaccinated, be prepared to find another job if your current gig decides to require workers to be vaccinated.
Not vaccinated, be prepared to be denied entry to businesses that require everyone to show proof of vaccination; it's their choice.

Did I stutter, or was your opinion not one based on barring people from medical care due to a choice they made? Sounds pretty intolerant to me.

I think you need to look in the mirror, because this is pretty humorous coming from someone who believes what you posted.
There's a difference between a choice (like getting or not getting a vaccine), and a consequence, which is what you proposed.
All I suggested was applying those consequences fairly. The basis of your opinion is that someone's personal choice is taking medical resources away from other people, right? Well, there are plenty of other non-COVID examples that we could apply that to.
I don't believe it's appropriate to do such things, but if people want to push it, let's be fair and equitable in our treatment of people who make decisions believed to be "poor".
The irony of this argument is that many of the people I know who have made it also support the idea of universal Healthcare. Apparently its only universal if you make the choices others what you to make.

Ironic, isn't it? We can't fight the obesity epidemic by trying to get people to live more healthy lives, but we can make them take a vaccine that they may not even need if they were living a healthy lifestyle.

Well, how long do you require? We are 19 months into the use of the Phizer vaccine on humans and between the three US vaccines over 400 million doses have been given.

The vaccine has been in use since March 2020? Is that right?

The Phizer vaccine started phase 1 trials in March of 2020, correct. Moderna started phase 1 at essentially the same time.
The vaccines were being batched in under 60 days from full sequencing.
