How is not getting the vax for the Caronavirus dangerous to you?

This is interesting bc 6/7 years ago when I was still working for the public library a mother got all bent out of shape bc she learned there were anti-vaxxers coming to storytime - story time was for kids under 5 (basically) she was demanding the library ask for shot records

Anyway - I wonder what she thinks now & if the libraries (that laughed in her face) will eventually ask for the vaccine card to get in

If you are taking immunosuppressants why would a vaccine work? Explain that one to me please.

Because the antibodies are formed before the immunosuppression, and immunosuppressive medications work on different aspects of the immune response.

ETA: so this thread has been bumped 2.5 years later. So for people replying now, keep in mind that this thread is pre-COVID.
what’s going on right now has nothing to do with the vax/antivax question.

If COVID vaccine worked like other vaccines then you would not be making this argument. In fact, once vaccinated you'd be walking around in crowded malls comfy AF.

But we are here and you are scared of COVID unvaccinated people.

Why? You afraid your vaccine does not work?

Our food industry is to set up to be addictive and the addictive things are just terrible for us. You want to eliminate a lot of health problems then ban soft drinks or refined sugar. That will actually make a difference in the long run bc as you imply people are just too stupid to make the proper life choices

I don’t think people are stupid, per se, but given the data, it suggests that losing weight isn’t a strictly biochemical process, it is also a metabolic one. No patient wants to be fat, in my experience, but losing weight is immensely difficult when your body has been primed to respond in a certain way.

But it would be amazing if we actually had policies in mind that actually maximized human health. Alas, vaccination is the most successful public health measure historically for a very specific reason, which is why, I would guess, that any other public health suggestion will never see the same degree of success.

That’s not true. Here’s an article from the 2015 measles outbreak… LINK

Im 38, excercise daily and have had covid.

There is literally no reason for me to take it. I have no interest in protecting the fatties and frankly I dont give a frick if that offends anyone. Lose weight you fat fricks and take care of yourself. Bunch of old unhealthy bitches.

Anyone that says I should take it immediately loses credibility for being a science denier on natural immunity.

If the vaccine works, take it and protect yourself. Im not taking shite. Ever. For any reason.

I understand that COVID has changed the landscape and shifted views but disease immunity has always been a communal issue in a society from a science and thus public policy POV.

I think whatever is available should be an individuals right to choose, don't you?

I think someone is a complete idiot trying to force anti vaccine or pro vaccine views upon others.

Their reasons should be their own without having to explain oneself.

Everyone should know the facts and then make a choice and accept any consequences good or bad.

While I agree in principle with what you're saying, you picked a crap example

quote:

CDC recommends that children get four doses of polio vaccine. They should get one dose at each of the following ages:

2 months old
4 months old
6 through 18 months old
4 through 6 years old
Almost all children (99 out of 100) who get all the recommended doses of polio vaccine will be protected from polio.

The vast majority of the infected were unvaccinated against the disease, including kids who were too young for the shots and anti-vaxxers who chose against them. That’s how you get an outbreak.

As expected the unvaxxed got infected with measles. And being 97% effective only a few vaxxed kids got the measles.

But the COVID vaccine is 99% effective. Only one in 100 will catch COVID that are vaccinate. The vaccinated should have no worries. But they act like people being attacked in zombie movies.
