Rogan has had many interviews related to this subject. There's a long one with Steven Rinella and Cameron Hanes which discusses it at various points. Beside the Boyd one, he also has an interview with Cliff Gray. Fascinating subject.

I like that summation.
There is a correct way to do this with both wolves and bears.
As for the ranchers, I think they have every right to bitch about it. And there needs to be compensation/tags awarded to people that apply for bear and wolf tags to hunt. (I know bear tags are awarded in most states via lottery)
You simply have to keep their population in check.

Im against it. Predators compete with me for the game I like to hunt. Simple as that.
Dont bother me here. Nature is more in balance, and the predators are necessary.

What the frick does this have to do with reintroduction of an apex predator?
Also, while I am in favor of having wolves in the ecosystem again, was it really necessary to fly them in and accelerate the introduction naturally? I believe I either listens to a discussion or watched a documentary that stated Canadian wolves have made their way into Yellowstone already and are now competing with the reintroduced wolves, as nature intended mind you.

Man and Wolves have NEVER peacefully co-existed in the same environment. They are ALWAYS going to be a problem for man. I love the idea of seeing wolves in the wild....I am not a rancher or land owner in an area where they and I are going to be in constant combat with one another.
There is a reason wolves have been domesticated rarely in the history of mankind. It is pretty common to see lions and grizzly bears performing tricks for treats and has been for a LONG time....it is highly unusual to see a real wolf, not a wolf hybrid, doing ANYTHING a human demands it do....wolves simply do not bend to the will of man and never have.

In the case of wolves man has kept the population down to a manageable level in the lower 48....they were nearly wiped out completely, the only manageable population possible for wolves in an environment where man is present.
Given the way game tags are managed in the areas that would be appropriate at any level to introduce wolves it is hard to imagine limited hunting keeping them in check. All of the compensation programs ranchers have access to are severely limited in providing actual compensation for wolf predation. The managers will bend to the numbers which will insist on limited if any hunting and their numbers will increase dramatically driving many farmers and ranchers into financial troubles. Its a bad idea. It is a great thought to have apex predators once again roaming their native habitat...unless of course you happen to depend on that habitat to provide for your family and then its a terrible idea, about as bad as ideas get.....and depending on the state or federal government to manage them is a fools errand. Once they get a foothold they will be allowed to become a major problem because the relative few naysayers will be drowned out by the people with no vested interest in keeping them i check, a task which is nearly impossible to do under ideal conditions.

It’s the patch man. Things are different in the patch. In the patch you bang on a supply line long enough and a collar just loosens up and boom! Blowout!

Probably correct, but they'd be bitching at us about something else.

CPW releases their collared wolf map every month. The purple areas are watersheds that have had collared wolves confirmed in them. Here's November's. It has expanded quite a bit from where they were initially released in norther Colorado. Kepp an eye out on the slopes!

An exceptionally funny quote considering, ya know, the whole evolution of Canis lupus familiaris.

Just to be clear, I’m more on your side than not. But I’ll just ask, what is an acceptable number of predators in your opinion?

Reintroducing non-native wolf species (or even native ones) are an absolutely horrible idea.
Colorado and many other states are ending up managing their wildlife via the ballot box where a bunch of suburban Karen’s can make ecologically unsound demands on wildlife resource management.
I was told by a CO in Colorado if I see a wolf to practice the three Ss.

Purports? People go to school for this shite and spend their summers doing field work in these habitats. They do studies, gather data, and consider factors that you aren’t capable of “thinking” your way into.
Not saying you are wrong, but what’s your take on the COVID vaccine and all the studies done on that?
