Usually a PM 9. I sometimes fetch one of the smaller .45s (Glock 36, for example) but since I have the Kahr most of the time I'm lazy and don't want to swap out.

How do you guys hide them from the kids? I have a daughter and even though she isn't able to walk yet, I need to plan ahead. Any suggestions?

This.

For home defense nothing beats a 12 gauge pump shotgun loaded with buck shot or slugs.

Just pumping the thing will scare the shite out of most men. Staring down that 12 gauge pipe of death will do the rest. If you do end up having to pull the trigger, you don't have to be the best shot (under that kind of duress I bet most guys would be off the target a ring or two). And also very importantly, you don't have to worry about rounds penetrating sheet rock and hitting your loved ones in the next room. Small caliber super sonic rounds like a 9mm can go through several rooms, not something you want to have to factor in when the shite is going down.
