Bought a house in New Orleans East and waited too long to sell.

Borrowed money to buy into the dot.com bubble shortly before it crashed.

I had a house built in 2007. My signature on the closing papers triggered the housing market collapse. I sold it 3 years ago and still lost money.

Same but we built it in 2006 near the top of the market.

Bought 100 shares of google at the ipo @85. Got super nervous the next day when it started to dip so sold it all. Made about 15k but it’s now worth over 2k/share. Truly zigged when I should have zagged.

Probably building a retirement home that is bigger than my old home, and going from no mortgage to a mortgage.

Lost $2 million on an investment in a virtual reality/augmented reality company. Great software, terrible CEO and we knew it going in but didn't get removal language in the documents since we trusted him to do the right thing at the right time. He was a former catholic priest and I wrongfully trusted his word.

Yeah, that sucks to think about.

FIL worked in tech. In the early 00's he held stock in Nortel, Alcatel, and Global Crossing valued at $2M

Tech bubble burst and despite the desperate pleadings of his wife to sell his position, the dude held on until the stocks were all essentially worthless

His financial advisor told him to wait for the bounce back that never came

Wife left him shortly after

Having a full ride to LSU and getting loans anyway to play around. Paying that off was not fun.
