I love any of the C-130 variants, but so far, my least favorite acft has definitely been KC-135s

MIG-25 Foxbat
It was a flying engine

Interesting story on the Mig-25. In 1977, a Soviet pilot achieved an altitude record (that still stands) when he zoom climbed his aircraft all the way up to 123,000 ft. The engines flamed out but he was able to re-light them once he got down to the lower stratosphere. This aircraft was capable of mach 3 at around 85,000ft.

Another legendary plane out of the past was the English Electric Lightning...it remains the fastest British plane ever produced and the first aircraft in the world capable of supercruise.

A-10 for the win! Awesome show when you are the customer and get to watch them from the front row!!!!

Since the OP asked about jets, I could not cast my vote for the AC 130! That bad boy unleashed serious azz whooping to the bad guys!

We did a mission trip on the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation in southern Arizona three summers ago. Apparently, Luke Air Force Base uses the airspace over the reservation for training. All week long I watched pairs of A-10’s practice ground attack maneuvers. Was so awesome! Also watched F-35’s dogfight day and night, but seeing that boondoggle of a fighter just pisses me off.

It never did to my knowledge. We still talk about the SR71 with awe even today and it was 1950s and60s tech, it makes you wonder are the faint rumors of something called Aurora, or some successor to the Blackbird, true?

In this era of leaks and everyone has a camera and instant access to worldwide communications, it would be far harder to keep such a thing secret I would think.

I was fishing at a pond in the middle of nowhere NE AL when I was a teen. Some bastard of an Air National Guard Phantom pilot apparently saw me from a long way off and came in right behind me real low and real freaking close to supersonic. He lit his afterburners right as he passed over me and wagged his wings. Scared the absolute crap out of me.
