I find it hard to believe there is even a debate over this. Don't be an idiot - Vaccinate your kids. It is simple.

Agree, but I would argue that the odds are pretty close to the same in most cases.

Some but certainly not all vaccines... Reward far excedes risk in many cases, MMR, Pertussis for example.

Vaccinate your kids, if its possible; if you are one of the rare folks with a kid who is so immunocompromised or that has some medical issue preventing them from being vaccinated (not 'I'm skeert of Autism'), encourage everyone else you know to get their kids vaccinated, to provide a safer population for your child, where their likelihood of exposure is diminished.

People should be free to choose. That is all that really matters.

You got idiots thinking vaccines are completely safe despite overwhelming of studies proving otherwise (and manufacturers admitting it). And you got idiots who don't see the science of good vaccines.

If that is really the thought that crosses your mind on this topic I highly suggest doing some of your own investigating. The debate will never end until actual "safety tests" on vaccines are done vs a placebo. They have not been done and will not be done. You can investigate why.

not worried about cervical cancer shot. No shot for HPV. I would want it to scare my girls into celibacy until adulthood.

That makes no sense. You will not scare you girls into celibacy. And as an adult, the chance to get the virus is no less.

tetanus fine

But why? Cancer/death risk from not getting hpv isn't enough for you to vaccinate?

quote:

Would not get polio shot at this time.

Genius.

quote:

I can see not getting the polio shot since it appears to be eradicated from the planet.

Actually it isn't eradicated from the planet, and has been making a comeback due to parts of the world prohibiting vaccinations.

But its not like those people can get on a plane and come over to the US or anything and cause polio...

The amount of idiocy demonstrated by some on this board baffles my mind. The idea that giving vaccines clustered is too much for the body to handle is a farce.

Getting all currently recommended childhood vaccinations generates about 150 antibodies. The body can generate about 10 billion different antibodies. Over the course of your life, you will produce between 1 million and 100 million different antibodies.

When you are young is when you are producing many of the different antibodies because that is when you are first exposed to these things. The vaccines stress of the few antigens they cause is like pissing in the ocean.

Getting exposed to strep throat can cause between 20 and 50 antibodies alone.

The thought that clumping these together is too much for the immune system is laughable.

LINK

Is a story of stupidity. It is the tale of a naturopath, or ND which stands for Not a Doctor and her tale of what many people viewed as child abuse of her three kids whom she allowed to whooping cough. Its also referred to as the 100 day cough because it just destroys kids for 3 months. I know no one like to follow links, but the original story from like minded mamas, a cesspool of stupidity, took it down because of the beating it took.

Yep, that is small pox. These other viruses are all bad as well. Maybe not as bad, but do you know why they aren't seen in the US that much?

Vaccines.

So lets see some of the stupid people in this thread have brought up the risk of autism. There is none. They are wrong. There really isn't much more to say.

Someone brought up that the HPV vaccine only protects against 4 strains of virus, but those are the 4 strains most commonly found in the US that cause most health problems. So that makes the most sense.

The threat of the schedule packing these vaccines together being too much for the body to take is crazy. They get one episode of strep throat and they form as much as a third of all the antigens all the vaccines generate over the course of all of the childhood vaccines.

Finally, the thought that the vaccine schedule is just that a schedule and can be modified by parents who can individualize the schedule for their child because they know best is laughable.

Not to be mean here, but outside of the OT, where everyone is a rocket scientist, most people aren't. And the fact that they think they can figure out what is best for their kids based upon a couple of hours of internet research is better than the brightest minds in the world have come up with is just amazing.

These posts pop up here and there on this board and every time we see some foolish people who think they know more than scientists do who study this thing is foolish.

Often times these parents fear gluten more than polio or smallpox. They listen to Jenny because in this interview she actually kept her clothes on. But at the end of the day, it is all stupid. And much of this stupidity is the same that gets repeated even though it is all false.

The formaldehyde scare is the current one that runs around the internet. But look...

These scare tactics are just that. Get your children vaccinated as recommended.

I was willing to listen to some vaccine debate. As a nurse and knowing big pharm was/is evil.

But nah.... I vaccinate. I did however split up the schedule. Held off a couple until first well baby check. Split a couple up afterward so child is not hammered at once and feeling like dogshit. That I feel has merit.

Rota virus was one that gave me pause. It's just the shits. But it is some awful shits.

But in the end, my son got them all. And will continue to do so.

Not vaccinating for measles or small pox to me is insane. These can be fatal and or just horrendous. Not to mention that they are so old staff will be scratching their nuts a moment trying to recall how to treat these old assed conditions.

How many vaccines do kids get nowadays?

A lot. And they stack them on top of each other. I think they give too many, too soon and that is part of the actual problem, as well as the perception problem.

But, I'm pro-vaccination, generally. Just want more eyes looking on how and the scheduling. I want the best medical solution, not the most cost-effective solution for the pharmaceutical companies and doctors.

That's in the 2nd paragraph of your link. Immediately dismissed.

I think in general vaccines are and have been a positive for society. My stance is to avoid vaccines that are more based on convienence (chicken pox for example), are formulated in morally objectionable ways (aborted fetal line derived), or just address extremely low probability issues.

Vaccine makers have figured out if you scare most parents they will demand xyz vaccine for their child without any research. That is a problem in my opinion parents make too many health decisions for their children based on emotion not facts and research.

I think it was widely discontinued in the 1960s. It may be on the schedule for some folks in some professions in some places or for some travel. But, only military still gets them routinely in the U.S.

Your wonderful link also produced this gem

quote:

Canadian physician Dr. Andrew Moulden provided clear scientific evidence to prove that every dose of vaccine given to a child or an adult produces harm. The truth that he uncovered was rejected by the conventional medical system and the pharmaceutical industry. Nevertheless, his warning and his message to America remains as a solid legacy of the man who stood up against big pharma and their program to vaccinate every person on the Earth.

I am guessing polio and smallpox should still be here according to you?

What is the point you are trying to make? Were you somehow confused into thinking there is no real science behind the concept of vaccines? That is my guess as most people who blindly support vaccines don't seem to understand the real issues at hand.

You are right. 1970.

See someone with that old dimpled circle on the shoulder that was a small pox vaccine.

Also....one important point to note for the "10% get autism" crowd....

Diagnostic expansion is downright absurd, especially in the DSM-V. The number of people who have certifiable mental illness skyrocketed just by the publishing of that book over the 4th edition.

This is good for business models, but terrible for public health and our cultural improvement.
