I did cocaine pretty much daily for like 10 years. Just stopped one day, didn't like how I was feeling. I still do it 1 or 2 times a year or so.
I stopped after I found a hole in my nose. Good times

Sex. Fortunately my wife helped me kick the habit.

For real, Afrin. Harder than pain pills.
This was the hardest thing for me too. Crazy arse headaches and I couldn’t breathe through my nose for what seemed like two weeks.

Definitely true. You can't make somebody else quit, they have to be at the stage where they want to quit. You can dry em out / sober em up but that doesn't mean they quit.
dont hide like a FCKhead
cigarettes
nicotine gum
patch finally did it
Trivia: Anyone know that the molecular substance that came to be known as nicotine was named after a prominent French tobacco trader who was one who introduced it to Europe in the 16-1700s "Nicot"?

Alcohol. The best choice I have ever made… my life is so much better.. don’t even have any craving
Or anything.. I have never felt better .

I said the same thing until one day I had a bad idea and tried it. Just said I would only do it once because I at least wanted to know why people did it (I was snorting the h at the time). Girl I knew that shot up kept trying to talk me out of it and I told her look it's just this one time so she hit me and I was like damn this probably won't be the only time
I know exactly how people wind up in serious trouble with it.

Cocaine and opiods. It's very simple. That shite just makes you feel alive.

Klonopin
The only thing I've been chemically dependent on. I was prescribed this for sleep and took 2mg daily for nearly 15. It wasn't until the recent shortages that I realized how much I was hooked. The absolute worst bloating and mental wear. Never want to experience that again.
Since then, I've been weaning off and now on .5mg. I'll kick that in a month or two. My body just needed a break from weaning off. It's taken some serious discipline to never go back up in dosage.

We have learned a lot about addiction in the last 20 years and it is actually a disease process. You have a substance use disorder your entire life. It is very difficult to overcome. Most people don't get help. It's awesome so many of y'all have been able not only go through recovery but sustain it. As a Physician that treats addictions Alcohol, Opioids, Tobacco, and then Benzodiazepines in that order seem to be the most difficult to treat

Honestly pro football. Never looked back after initial withdrawals on Sundays. NBA and MLB were very easy.

Compulsive gambling is right up there from what I've read.

This thread is pretty eye opening. I quit alcohol for a little over a year. It was pretty tough. I drink now, but no hard stuff ever.
I do not understand the Afrin thing. I use it before bed so I can breath every night. That plus a Claritin keeps the snoring to a minimum. I had no idea it was some addictive thing. But I am addicted to breathing. I can't breathe without it. And I have had 2 surgeries on my septum and it still isn't right. But I heard from a drug rep that only about half of those surgeries work. But what do I know.
