They put one in New Roads that only has the one street to it, north and south bound. Dumbest thing I ever saw.

It's something to complain about when the traffic volume increases.

It's awesome. Traffic was ducked there before.

Now, I don't think I've ever come to a complete stop at one.

That's a bullshite ticket. And ducking municipalities wonder why the cops are so hated. That's a money grab. I'd speak with the chief and let him know without help, you won't be back to shop.

A roundabout with a stop sign to enter defeats the whole purpose of a roundabout.

It's been interesting, but in general I like them and people seem to have figured them out.

Seems like every time I take the cove lane exit coming from Sulphur I get behind someone that is waiting to turn right even though they have their own lane.

No way the people of Scott can figure out a traffic circle. I've never seen them where you are supposed to stop.

We have a bunch of people in Louisiana that need to turn over their driver's license if they can't drive roundabouts.

Reason I ask is the fine PD of Scott LA stopped me and gave me a ticket because I did not stop completely at the traffic circle.

Is there actually a stop sign? The traffic circle or roundabout is based on the idea of eliminating the requirement to stop, but you must yield.

Looking at Google Maps, it doesn't appear there is a stop sign. If not, I'd take it to court.

Street is less then a mile long. They replace the street lights about 5 times in the past 1 1/2 years. people just drive straight thru.

A) Future plans to add cross streets maybe?
B) Attempt to reduce speeding without adding speed bumps.

My street is a one-street neighborhood and there are two roundabouts. One is obviously meant to eventually connect to a side street, the other is just to reduce speeding.

I'm sure they will add a street one day. The street now runs thru bean fields.

either the cop doesn't know that it's supposed to be a yield, and you should contest your ticket...or something about your story isn't adding up.

how many people actually know the rules regarding traffic circles anyways?
there's a radio commercial i've heard several times that says to be on the lookout for roundabouts, and you always yield to traffic already in the roundabout.

South Carolina towns/cities are full of them. Once you get used to them they aren't that bad. Atlanta has several also.

Eta: also, the entrance to the roundabouts should be marked with either Yield or Stop signs before entrance so you should know what you are supposed to do.

Who wants to bet that the ticket OP got is "failure to yield", which means "OP will be paying the City of Scott $175 and court costs".

EDIT: I'm guessing what really happened here was more like "OP did not slow approaching the circle or floored it to get into the circle ahead of oncoming traffic, hence failing to safely and properly yield right-of-way."
