My company made all the sales folks make a profile. We even had 1 hour training sessions once a week for a month on how to build our profile. We tried telling them that recruiters would be reaching out to us on a regular basis.

I’m contacted by a recruiter weekly.

I have actually done a few consulting sessions, contact was initiated through LinkedIn.

It's facebook for people who want to brag about their job instead of their pets or who they voted for.

I have a Mechanical Engineering degree. I have an expired PE in Control Systems, I was very busy and I’m a first class procrastinator about things like PDH’s

So technically, I’m guess I’m not an engineer until I get reinstated, if I ever do. What about you?

They value or lack thereof of LinkedIn is very industry dependent. If you are in tech sales or med device sales, both of which are recruiter driven, it is a useful tool.

I just finished my final round of interviews with probably the best company I could ever work for because a recruiter hit me up on LinkedIn.

Wouldn't have my current job without LinkedIn.

Also a good resource for my work. And I'm not in sales or recruiting.

Even if I reach just one, it’s worth it.

I get interview offers from it by simply having it. A few that have actually made me want to look up what the company is all about

When the bottom fell out of O&G LinkedIn saved my arse. Within 3 days I signed 2 contracts that have been very good for me. Without it, IDK what would have happened to us financially.

Totally depends on your industry. Marketing and advertising it's a must to be on LI. Plant Operator not so much.
