No such thing as perfect age. There are advantages and disadvantages to anytime between 25-35ish. Do not wait until it is too late though. It is much harder to conceive as women get closer to 40

It's actually 40 that the chances of birth defects go up. Over 35 is when woman start having more problems getting pregnant.

Those curves definitely start the uptick at 35.

My answer: when you're financially stable, have a dependable partner and are <35.

We are 34/35 and just had a baby. It is definitely rough - lack of sleep is pretty brutal.

Also, ever notice all the young women who pop out child after child like it's nothing, whereas the mid 30's ( & over) ladies complain a lot more? Healing is tougher the older you get.

IMO the best ages to have kids are around 26-28.

Actually, mothers who are 35-40 have a 21-37 percent higher chance of having a child with autism. That rate goes up to 55 percent once they pass 40 according to research so I stand by my initial statement warning him about the rise in chance at 35.

You never afford them! You just can't afford everything they want. What I meant to say is talk is cheap but kids are not. To think you will wait because it will be easier make little sense.

18-22.

Mine would be out of college if I had listened to that.

My youngest enters college when I will be 51 and my youngest will graduate college when I am approximately 60. So that has to be a consideration, because all that money really needs to be going for retirement. Just saying. On the other hand, having them later means I was kind, gentle, patient, loving, wise in a way that would be very difficult for a young parent.

My kids were born when I was 21, 22, 25, and 32. Mid 40's now with only one left at home. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Have co-workers my age or older with kids still under 10. Better them than me !

The earliest age at which you are financially stable enough to support them. The younger you are when you have them, the younger you will be when they move away.

I expect a young wife, and I'll be mid 30s at this rate for a child. Just not in my DNA to jump into kids. I think I take care of myself well enough to have all the energy you people speak of.

Do what you need to do so you are in a decent place for everyone when it happens. However, please realize the vaccine "truthers," and other such idiots blame vaccines on Autism but completely ignore how old our average age at birth has become. I think there are increased risks much earlier than we acknowledge. I also think the prevalence of pregnant mothers on drugs like Prozac needs to be looked at more here too.

Bottom line, my opinion is we've become selfish as parents on when to have kids and kids are suffering for it. The kid needs less money than you think you do and would appreciate you not waiting to have it all figured out to start the process just for the better chance at health. Get your shite straight and get it done if that is what you want. Lots of other things to consider here but health is ultimately paramount to all else, IMO...

In that case it is pretty much any age since even if you are dirt poor the gubment will help. I used to always think people should wait until everything was perfect financially and in their relationship but if you think that way you will always be waiting for a better time and then just have them late if at all.

It kind of sucks that responsible people wait so long to have kids, and when they do they don't have many kids, because ghetto trashy people have sssooo many kids that it is a mathematical certainty in the next 30 years their will be more losers than productive people in this country. Its so fricked we actually reward losers for having kids, it is a WAY bigger threat to the country than ISIS.
