What is the OTs opinion on toll roads?

Are they a necessary evil considering pretty much every government’s inability to maintain proper infrastructure? For example, a major tolled loop around BR would be highly traversed no matter the price.
This is contracted out to a third party and is not overseen by the state in any way. The state is only involved in the safety standards.

If they’re anything like Beltway 8 or the Grand Pkwy in Houston, I’m all for them and will gladly pay the tolls to use them.

I avoid them if at all possible. Lived several years in Pennsylvania and never used them, no problems getting around either.

I think somebody's gonna have to go back and get a shite-load of dimes

It’s like a tip jar at every place you go to. We already pay you to do your job but you want extra for doing your job.

Every road should be a toll road or somehow otherwise built with private funds. Look, stores would build roads to their businesses, developers build roads to the homes, etc. etc. We had roads without government and we can have them again.
I would much prefer to pay tolls and not be taxed to build roads. This also has the advantage of not running into road pirates. Sure a private owner might charge you a speeding fee or even kick you off their road but they cannot come into your home and steal your freedom through the threat of violence.

Disagree somewhat. A toll keeps at least some poors off of them and I get where I need to go with less traffic.
Also, in most states, its seems they are completed faster as they have a quantifiable source of future revenue in place without having to go thru the red tape of getting government financing pre-design. Of course, Louisiana isn't most states.

Love the ones in Fort Worth. I also don’t mind paying for them because they save me time. My time is worth more than the toll.

Where at?
My family is from Butler by way of Somerset.
And the PA Turnpike is a beautiful drive; I ain't paying those fees though

I’ll gladly pay a fee to be away from the majority of the population, so I enjoy them.

I love them here in Houston. Saves a substantial amount of time getting places.

Well, at least in Charlotte, they are a complete utter waste of fricking money, that I don’t think helped anything. But someone got rich.

I hate them. I had to pay nearly $5 to drive roughly 6 miles of highway 241 through Santiago Canyon in California last month.

The OT hates tolls. The OT know this is just another tax, like the bogus brake tag scam.

So all you people saying they suck balls wouldn’t pay a toll to cross the river instead of sitting in insane traffic?
