There is an affliction joke on every thread about Lafayette.
What is it about Lafayette that attracts them?

Agree with this. Im sure there are outlier examples of shitty HOAs but I do believe what you said is the normal result of people hating HOAs.

If it takes being fascist to prevent my neighbor from letting his grass get 2 ft high before deciding to bushhog it, or everybody using the street as a makeshift driveway, or painting the trim all kind of exotic colors (that's a PC way of saying it), then sign me up. I like the idea that if I had to, I could sell my home fairly easy years down the road because the neighborhood will still look nice.

What I've found over time is that people can be trashy, lazy and selfish when it comes to how they live in their homes in respect to others around them. And a lot times when confronted about those issues, will say "my property, I can do what I want!" while slamming the door in your face. That's why I like the HOA.

It also promotes a sense of community and ownership among all the homeowners, rather than just a collection of individuals living in a neigborhood. We've had some great HOA meetings with issues being brought up, in which they've all been resolved.

I think the intentions are good, but there’s always 2-3 jackasses with no hobbies or life that want to feel in control of other people. It’s human nature.
There's now "always" those people. Those are extremely rare and most people that live in HOAs never have those issues.

She doesn’t have a dog so she doesn’t care but you better come with a DNA test or a video if you’re fining me $250 for random dog poop in your yard

$450 is cheap. We live in Cypress, TX a master planned community called Bridgeland and dues are $1195 a year. I'm not sure whats included in your $450, we have: several pools and one lap pool, one pool has two 30' water slides, many stocked fish lakes, canoe and kayak checkouts and launches, bike checkouts, 60 miles of biking trails, 6 miles of mountain biking trails, 18 hole disc golf course, dog park, many green spaces, baseball and soccer fields for pickup games, a dozen or so playgrounds, etc..

I have a dog and still wish this were a thing in my neighborhood.

Make it $2500, and I'm still good with it.

So you’re gonna get a lot of negative responses here from trashy people who think their freedoms are being infringed upon if they can’t keep a rusted car parked in their yard or can’t gut a deer in their front yard.

That’s why you do what we did and move into an area of the HOA-run neighborhood where you have no back neighbors and a little bayou runs behind you. I’ve thrown many crawfish/crab/shrimp shells in that ditch, as well as fish heads and guts.

River Ranch HOA is managed by Community Management LLC, a company specializing in HOA management. There is a full time manager and staff at RR.
It takes multiple violations and a total disregard for your neighbors to get "written up" or fined.

Yeah the fat girl sucks. John was much better. Bad decision by management, but I’m sure this new company was cheaper

I think 99% of the time this is the case.

But there is always that one HOA head that is just a power trip a-hole.

Don’t live in a lame subdivision. Those new cookie cutter neighborhoods are trash. What’s the significance of your house if a person next door has one identical to yours?

In Lafayette, the older neighborhoods such as off of east bayou, around Lafayette high, or the saint streets. That’s the best places to live in town IMO. Don’t move to the southside. It’s so crammed. Mid town Lafayette is the best.

It's Laffayette, baw. The HOA probably specifically says you are ONLY allowed to wear Affliction shirts when leaving your residence.
