I think 99% of the time this is the case.

But there is always that one HOA head that is just a power trip a-hole.
No doubt, the shitty HOA is much more the outlier than the shitty neighbor.

But you can easily review ratings as well as if you have a realtor worth a shite, he'll either know the answer or where to get the answer on how the HOA is. So it's really not this blind crapshoot that you just hope you don't get that outlier bad HOA, you should know before you buy.

I care about the significance of the houses around mine more than my own, to be honest.

I know mine will be well kept, I worry more that my neighbors will do the same.

My mom lives in River Ranch and it’s like a $250 fine if your dog poops in someone’s yard and you don’t pick it up. Also has to get approval for any outside renovation or addition.

It’s actually $500 and I can assure you this fine has never been imposed on one single resident in the history of the neighborhood. Believe me. I tried. That shite is everywhere

but you better come with a DNA test or a video if you’re fining me $250 for random dog poop in your yard

My place does a cheek swab of pets when people move in. I think it’s like $75 if you don’t pick up after your dog. We have a big common area off our back patio where we can throw the football and stuff so it’s nice to not worry about dog shite.

If you drive around those new “nice” neighborhoods in south Lafayette you’ll see people parked in their yards, boats in their yards/drive ways, kids toys all over the yard and poorly maintained gardens.

Honestly a lot of people who live there are first time home owners or white trash with a little money. If you care about appearance and decency, I’d recommend living in an older neighborhood in town. Not Broussard/Youngsville. By south Lafayette I mean south of Kaliste Saloom. More like south Lafayette parish. Not actual town

Sugar Mill Pond for sure.

I don’t remember the cheesy arse names I just know they’re all very similar and are extremely overrated.

That's what an HOA is for.

Sure, that'll increase your odds, but you never know and all it takes is that one shitty neighbor.

An HOA will protect you from that one shitty neighbor. Not saying it is a must to have one by any means, but not recognizing the merits of an HOA is a bit shortsighted IMO.

Lots of very offended people ITT that can't handle a little ribbing about them living in cookie cutter subdivisions

Thank god generational wealth has allowed me to avoid such a situation

By the very offended people who freak out at the notion of an HOA.

Not sure what situation you feel you need to avoid, but good for you.

You've already outed yourself as a pathological liar yet you continue to spew. You stated in an earlier thread that you knew nothing of Lafayette but now you're an authority on the "new" neighborhoods in the city? Do everyone a favor and stay in tRANT.

They just seem very cheaply built, but you get what you pay for I guess.

Seem? I'm just trying to get a real view from someone that has experienced good and bad things.
