Recently found $121 on the floor while eating in a Jimmy John's. I gave it to the manager and assume it never made it back to the person who lost it.

When self-checkouts first started appearing I had a sales route at grocery stores; I was regularly netting $15/day at area stores from people forgetting their change. Lasted for a few weeks. It was certainly a little unethical, but I was a poor college senior making 4% commission...it was needed money.
Fast forward 12 years, I stop at a Walmart for a snack before I coach a little league game and get $40 cash back at a self checkout. I'm in a rush and forget the money. Realize it at the red light leaving the store and briefly consider running back in. Then I chalk it up to karma and drive away.

When I was around 9 years old, I found 50 dollars in the street. I bought football equipment with it and saved the rest.
These days that would get you a football and maybe a mouthpiece
Or maybe 1 cleat.

During college I was like everyone else and was broke as hell. One day I went to my ATM and my receipt said I had $263,000 in my account. I spent the day showing everyone how rich I was. The following day my balance was corrected and back to $14.00.

You didn't spend the day withdrawing money?!

I found a $20 bill in a parking lot once, that was a long time ago.. But other than that nothing more than some jingle on the ground (coins, pennies, nickels, quarters, etc).
This past year at for the Louisiana derby, at the Fair Grounds, a friend of mine had a voucher for like $8. He went to cash it out and he had no idea what happened. If the person before him put their voucher in and couldn't get the money or what, but it spits out $138.00.
He claims he stayed there for a few minutes to see if someone would come back, from going get help because they couldn't get their money, but after about 5 mins he split. That might be the most I ever heard someone else find.

First year of marriage. Young and barely getting by with a newborn. I found $400 bucks in a parking lot one day and kept it. Felt guilty about keeping it but I knew if I turned it in the employees would probably pocket it anyway. $400 may as well have been $1000 to me at that time.
Fast forward about a week. My wife had just gone to cash my paycheck. Didn’t have a checking account and was living paycheck to paycheck. She gets out of her car at a gas station and leaves her purse in it with the doors unlocked. A guy on a bike swipes it and takes off. About $1500 and that’s all we had to our name. Had to borrow money from her parents to make it until the next payday.
Figured it was bad karma. Since then, I always turn any found money in to somebody. If they choose to keep it, so be it.

Well, one Mardi Gras, I was at the bar that is on the left as you walk into Pat O's. it was wall to wall people. I look down and find $600+ dollars. I have found $100 bills more times than I can count.

It was "stupid decision to leave $1500 in an unlocked car" not "bad karma"
