One more story to add.

LSU/Texas Tech bowl game at Reliant/NRG stadium here in Houston.

This TT baw behind us was being loud and obnoxious and was drunk as hell. 10 mins into the game, he pukes but as fate would have it, it was ON my brother haha Anyway, we got security over to take him out and he left his wallet behind that had $400 in it.

My brother found the drunk guy on FB and told him that we found his wallet with the cash intact. He apologized profusely and told him to keep the cash for puking in him but send the wallet back to him lulz Good gesture in my book.

Not exactly found but several years ago I got a full roof replacement from homeowners after some storm damage. Their portion was almost $26k. Received the check, paid the contractor and all was good. Two weeks later a second check comes in the mail for the same amount but with a different claim number. I sat the check on my desk and stared at it for two days. Finally called the adjuster and she argued with me that the check was correct for about ten minutes until she put the claim number in her laptop and realized she double paid me. She hauled arse over and picked up the check.

I often wonder if I could have cashed it and gotten away with it. I was tempted because even though I am really honest this same insurance company screwed me out of thousands after Katrina in denied claims.

frick that, next time put it in your pocket. If it's on the fricking floor, it isn't theft.

Not so fast. In Louisiana....it can be prosecuted as a theft.

My sister received the daily sales at a pharmacy by mistake. She bought a few things and the cashier bag them and handed her a bag. About half way home she was going to get something from the bag and it was full of money instead. The manager was about to stroke out when she returned the money.

My best friends grandma was Donna Douglas, she played Elly May on the Beverly hillbillies. She passed a couple years ago and when cleaning out her house we found thousands of dollars randomly place all over. In folded socks $100 under a seat cushion on a chair $3000. Boxes in the closet full of gold and silver coins. There was cash and coin at every turn, we spent a couple days finding stuff. No idea how much it was in total.

I also found a $100 on the floor st the prop stop years ago. Drank lots of worm buckets that day!

Doesn’t count because it was my own money but cleaning out my golf bag one day and 2 $100 bills fell out of one of the gloves. Still no idea where it came from.

Are you serious? In Vegas casinos, if you find a chip on the floor, that's legit okay to keep, but of course they have cameras everywhere so they will know if you swipe it off a table and say you found it on the floor or whatever. Or if someone drops a chip and you swoop in and grab it as they are trying to pick it up or whatever, that's theft too of course.

Me and my Dad were fishing off a charter boat in the keys many years ago. Well this was, unbeknownst to us the height of the cocaine cowboys airlift days. I pull in what I thought was a monster grouper only to see it was a large trash bag similar to what you'd fill with leaves in the fall and leave on the road for pick up. It was taped up really well and heavy as hell. AS soon as we got it over the side the captain yelled for us not to touch it. He came down from the tower and grabbed his camera and cut a slit in the side where three or four bundles of $100 bills came spilling out. He took pictures and immediately called the coast guard. They show up about an hour later and take the bag for testing. One of the crew said the bag was filled with money probably over 10 million.

It would be really tempting to keep this. REAL tempting. What, if any, law would be broken if you had kept it?

No law broken, but the captain at the time said you don't want whoever lost it coming after you. I remember thinking Bull shite at the time but many years later after watching "No Country for Old Men" got the point.

Bout tree fiddy.

I actually found about tree fiddy when I was around 9.

And I'm old so that was rent money for someone back then.

Parent made me turn it in to the cops. Cops said if nobody claimed it, I would get it in 180 days.

Nobody claimed it. Cops said they had no clue what the heck we were talking about when we tried to claim it.

Letter to the Mayor and he made sure I got it.

Even though I found the damn wallet, I had to split it with another kid who was walking home with me.

Was giving away an old suit a few weeks ago and found $360 in the coat pocket. It was mine without a doubt but I don't remember misplacing any money.

Had $6,000+ mistakenly deposited into my account while I was in college.

Same thing happened to me back in college, but it was $10K. I checked out the deposit slip and the dude had the exact same name as me and our account numbers were two numbers off. It took them about 3 months to find it and remove it from my account.

Wife found $200.00 in our yard near sidewalk. She wonder what to do with it. I told her, it was probably a drug deal gone bad, and that she should keep it

Went to Scottsville AZ a few years ago to play some golf. Checked into a villa and found $250 in fifty dollar bills folded up and tucked between the cushions on the sofa.

Had the opposite happen once, went to our local bank borrowed $20K to do some home improvements, spent like $15K of it in a matter of a few days. I get a letter in the mail from the bank "Please deposit $15K in your account to cover outstanding checks that have been paid by the bank" I call the bank to find out what's going on, they had deposited loan into my dad's account (we have the same name) by mistake. LOL They paid all those checks though .
