not sure.
all i know is the 3rd gen 4runner enthusiasts FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR outnumber the LC enthusiasts and the 4runner can be modified like a lego toy in endless ways.
just doesnt make sense to me..the LC has a V8 but for pure fun, the old 4runner blows it away.

I have a 2004 4Runner with 170,000 miles and I've had tons of people make offers on it, including dealerships.
Toyota SUVs are just reliable as frick.

they can be pretty damn nice TBH
the times I've been in them they've tended to have all kinds of shite that lots of other cars dont have
dunno if I have been in maxed out ones or what but if I had the coin to blow I wouldnt mind owning one.

Was wondering the same thing as a neighbor just bought one. Seems a bit much for a suburban assault vehicle but my neighbor is a stupid count so I guess it makes sense.

This vehicle is fine.

My mother has that same exact model. I told her I have first dibs when she wants to get rid of it

its funny you ask this question, because i was car shopping a few months ago and had the notion to research suv's and was shocked to learn that there was a toyota with a base price of $80k

For anyone that has, what is the appeal?
I own a 2013. Fantastic truck, although the list price is way too high. If you can find one on a dealer's lot they'll go way ($10k) below MSRP. Plus depreciation is among the lowest out there.
They look better in person, in my opinion, but are certainly not for everyone. The appeal for me was a long-lasting, reliable, and low profile (i.e., not flashy/showy) vehicle with lots of room, three rows, and all the luxury features I needed. I also considered a Range Rover, but the reliability issues, lack of third row, and terrible dealer service (at least here in Dallas) pushed me away.

All the big SUVs command a premium
Hell my parents bought a Yukon xl Denali and it was 75k +/-

Probably not but I grew up in Sarasota (bout 30 years ago). Spent a lot of time on Siesta and Long Boat at a youth. Some of my most happy memories.

Yep, reliability aside, I think the Range Rover Sport with the V8 is the best value out there. $75 k base but with a sub 5 sec 0-60 time its like an SUV and a sports car.

Maybe because the 4Runner is faaaaaassssrrrrrrrr more affordable?

I completely agree about the RR dealership in Dallas. My father had one and I can attest that their service flat out sucks. Between dealing with the cramped building, the shitty attitude their employees have, and the pathetic coverage their service plan gives I don't think I would ever purchase a thing from them. He had his for about two years before he had enough and sold it.
It doesn't help that its a pain in the arse to get in and out of that place b/c they waste a shite load of space in their lot on a stupid arse fake hill they planted a car on.

That's quite a big thing to put "aside" when judging the value of a vehicle
Not to mention, the price of repairs on any Land Rover vehicle dwarf Toyota and they break 100x more.
ETA:
My dad's wife has a Range Rover and its a piece of shite. Thank god its under warranty still.

My mom had a 2007 and hated it because of the ride. I loved it but she only kept it a year. I think it was the last year if the past body style.
