I need to hear what the collective says about it before I decide if I should accept it, or keep on wincing when hearing it, and avoiding it altogether.

I think someone needs to "Buy a vowel"------

How about an "A"?

I can honestly say that in my 48 years alive I’ve never heard or seen printed that word. In fact, when I tried typing it out my iPhone kept trying to correct it to “brother. What’s the supposed meaning of this “word”?

I dislike the use of bad grammar and made up words. But that's a whole nother topic.

I don't think it's all that bad honestly. It's really 'nother which is the same as saying another quickly. Fixin' to is worse.

Merriam-Webster
quote:

The rules of inclusion and exclusion are governed more by usage than sentiment, and nother has a history that goes back centuries. The Oxford English Dictionary has citations for the word dating back to the early 14th century, and you don’t have to look very hard in the subsequent centuries to find evidence of nother functioning in much the same way as other or another.
quote:

Beginning in the 18th century, we find a decent amount of its use in personal letters (particularly those written by those who are either unfamiliar with traditional orthography, or do not much care for it).
quote:

Sometime around the middle of the 20th century people began to notice it and decry it as a linguistic abomination. No one minded the phrase “no nother word of god,” but they certainly would if someone said “that’s a whole nother thing for god to say.”
quote:

Based on the evidence, we have to ultimately rule that nother is indeed a word. It may be informal, but the fact that so many people are talking about it means that it very much exists.

Yeah it's not really a word but neither is "gonna" or "lotta". Do you wince at those too? Just the way people talk.

But in some cases people use it for “other” which is wrong.

It’s a newly created infix, as in a’whole’nother. It’s trashy.

You're right, it makes no sense. It's been a while since I've heard someone use it in that way. I'm trying to think of an example of when you would use it to replace another and I can't. There would almost always be an a before it anyway.
