A camper that's not actually mobile.
Dumb idea. I've lived in a camper for months at a time on roadtrips and enjoyed it. But for a permanent house it's stupid.

Too small for me, but I would like to go down to around 1500 sq ft when the kids leave the house.

The thing that kills me is most of the ones I have seen are living on a family members property. They need to buy their own property and move the crap there. I get the idea of spending less money so you can retire sooner and travel, but at what expense? Just not sure I could do that.

Tiny houses are cute, charming, and nice for a weekend at tops.

Same here. My wife and I love to travel and aren't really enthusiastic about being stationary in one place to "settle down" when there is so much variety in the U.S.. I'd rather have something that is paid off and low maintenance, save our money, and not accumulate a house full of shite you have to buy just to fill up empty space. We'll inherit a nice 300 acre chunk of land and a home, so we'll have the option to retire early and homestead after we spend our youthful years traveling and being active.
Living.

I would be cool living in a 800-1000 sq ft house if I have no kids (which I don't have at the moment but want), had it on a nice chunk of land that was paid for, had a deck/patio that was equal square footage to entertain and had a shop that was at least the same size to store shite in.

Why is it stupid?

I think the average home could be smaller, but as for as those small homes on TV that's like 100 sq ft in which the kitchen table fits under the bed.. frick that. If its one person who isn't home a lot then I can understand, but it would be like living in a closet.

Actually looking at this one for weekend/retirement. Only 70k for the land and cabin, it's not completely finished on the inside.

Trendy mobile homes
Much more well built than a typical mobile home. But yes, they are homes that are mobile.

I have a tiny home, my dog lives in it.
Really I have no problem with them. But it's getting a little extreme. I see some of the prices they are building them for and they are not saving money. I cold handle one if I lived in a climate where I could be outside all the time. But in south Louisiana with two kids the heat and rain I would really hurt someone if I had to stay inside a 500 sq ft space all day.

Being mid 30's and single, I'm considering building one and using the rest of the money on a killer pool. Would be solar powered as well.

My SO and I want to buy a small piece of land in the mountains near Brevard/Asheville and build one. We enjoy visiting the area but work keeps us in Nola.

My hunting cabin is 300 sf. There ain't no way I could live in that everyday.
