What is the deal with these people?

They encourage their kids who are in college to have friends over and get trashed at their house. They can be seen going to college bars and taking shots with their kids and friends. They go on college trips with their kids as “chaperones” but the whole time they are there getting trashed.

What is the explanation for this phenomenon? Is it just a creative cover for their alcoholism? Trying to make up for a lackluster college experience?

One of the saddest examples Ik of is a dad who goes to his sons apartment on game day mornings and they both leave the house wearing the dress shirt/tie look for LSU games like fraternity pledges.

I have also known a dad to start selling weed just so he can sell to his son and friends

Maybe I'm just not trashy enough, but I have honestly never seen any of this.

What about parents who live vicariously through their kids playing travel ball?

After a HS prom, all the seniors at our school went to the beach and stayed at beach houses which were rented. They had chaperones and booze on the trip at a few of the houses. Buddy of mines mom was one of the chaperone, we found her getting plowed by two HS seniors all plastered up on the last night where we threw a huge party

Him and his mom do not have a very good relationship now

Usually it’s the parent saying “it’s okay if I drink and drive, I’m an adult”

It's not all that creative, but yeah, it's called alcoholism, and yes, the undying need to "fit in" and "feel cool."

I remember a couple of my chick friends' moms getting banged at Alabama. That was funny.

Trashy. It’s totally acceptable to live vicariously through their high school kids though especially when it comes to sports

Is this phenomenon exclusive to college towns? I have heard of it happening in both Baton Rouge and oxford

I drank and partied my arse off in college. I sure as hell don’t need to attempt to do it again to keep up with my kids.

Besides, I’m too busy trying to live vicariously thru my son playing HS football right now.

Yeah, no shite. I was thinking maybe hosting a tailgate for their kids and friends, but I haven’t seen anything like this.

Well his son went to alabama but they were always up in Tuscaloosa throwing stupid money around being weird and would have everyone over for Bama LSU weekends in Baton Rouge. Still does but it’s not as weird anymore
