Depression
Can also be a huge side effect of a career being derailed which can further delay one picking the pieces up and rebuilding.

My life has been derailed, but I wouldn't say that it's destroyed. I realized that my career wasn't for me. I'm still treading water trying to figure my life out at 31 years old.
I still haven't figured mine out but possibly because that's how I'm wired

Exactly. People in their 50's are looking for other things to do and haven't found their passion yet.

One day, when I let you buy me lunch, I will share with you some experiences I had after the subprime collapse. Some first hand and some I saw friends deal with.

Indecent Exposure is a relatively harmless activity that really rustles jimmies a whole lot more than you might innocently expect.

I'll drive over to LC. Owlie said he'd head east from Houston. Sounds like an OTGTG if you ask me.

Ditto to the gambling and drugs/alcoholism.
Most of the rest is just "life", but one can often tailspin quickly with those two.

I'm not sure everyone has a passion. Kind of like love, I don't think there's really one person or even just a few you can really care for. There could be many. Some people have many passions in life, and spend a lot of time moving through the different ones at various phases of life. I understand most people have a fairly linear view of career and life, but some people are definitely wired differently.

I'm going with drug addiction. I've got an old buddy that is a drug addict and just can't get his shite straight. 40 years old now, divorced, two kids, lost every job he's ever had, doesn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. The guy is the epitome of a train wreck and always blames everyone else for his situation. It is so bad that I will not let him know where my house is since I've moved nine months ago, as I won't let him around my wife and son.

He's a good dude and knows everyone it seems. We talk for 10 minutes and he bills me for 30 though
