My wife and I are both self employed and we learned firsthand how a new baby can really throw a wrench in your life.

The gambling one is mildly scary because you could see going crazy for a weekend, but still....not enough to completely bankrupt you unless you're getting markers.
Blackout drunk with a super drunk DUI or battery for swinging at someone is what terrifies me because it could have destroyed me a few times.

lawyer i know just found out his 45-year old wife is preggo. he's in his 60s
How does this happen on accident? 45? Pretty tough to get pregnant at that age without fertility help.
Also....better hope that baby is healthy, odds of Down's syndrome are insanely high at that age. 1 in 30 to be exact.

Piss off the government. That will derail it quick.

oh i know. that's why i included both ages. nearing retirement and you get that kind news? with the risk of those issues?

For a man, I think it's getting involved with the wrong woman, so I guess that's divorce out of what you listed. It has a lot of far-reaching effects on the other things you mentnioned such as job, debt, possible loss of home and savings.

with the "Wrong woman" scenario we can combine a few
like...had an affair later in life with a woman who got pregnant and gave you an STD, causing a divorce, and then she burns down your house
that's cheating, though

Divorce coupled with losing job. Can lead to other problems, and being financially strapped is never easy.

A murder charge (Ex. Aaron Hernandez).

Your lawyer friend wouldn't have those problems if he just would have stuck to dating in his own age group
Posted on 3/27/16 at 8:23 pm to lsunurse
well my man-centric nature is kind of showing, but the age is the reason i used that example
i can't imagine being 40 and having an unexpected pregnancy, esp if you're not married. that's a shite sandwich
