The destruction of the two parent home will be the thing that brings about the destruction of this country. Just look at the statistics and it’s incredibly obvious.

Meh, I think you're trying too hard to argue the flip side of the coin here.

Socially? Of course it is. Everything is exposed, and dumbed down

Common social fabrics have been destroyed. Nuclear family for one. Norms which held abhorrent behavior in check are dying

All of these were problems every adult in the 1960’s worried about.

You have a good argument. But so did they. I don’t think we are any closer to doomsday than they thought they were.

More anxiety and depression than ever, more polarization, less understanding, spending more time indoors, getting fatter..

The good thing is we run in cycles. Hopefully kids growing up today reject the sterile world we live in and go on a 1970s-ish quest to find themselves.

I read something from a philosophy professor that argued “marriage is racist”.

I don’t think it was the American dream. I think to many people think they can achieve the American dream from the dumb shits in Washington without having to work for it. I’ve been doing my part by voting out all incumbents that run for office at the state and federal level

Compare most stats to the 80s and 90s

i'll admit many social indicators are better now than they were in the 80s and 90s, but they're still horrendous compared to the 50s and early 60s, before free love, yesterday, the Vietnam war, and all.

i could agree with this if, for example, people simply weren't getting married but still raising children in a stable two-parent home, but that's not what's happening. instead, it's a bunch of low-rent people knocking each other up, bouncing from partner to partner, and adopting pit bulls.

i just can't see any major category where we're improving as a country. we're fat and unhealthy, increasingly lazy, and the family unit is crumbling.

I can’t necessarily name the biggest factor but we are pret near fricked.

I see a lot of social media reasoning posts. While on the surface I agree, I do not agree on the genesis. Isolation tech started well before social media. What happened - to me - is smart people saw what people can be influenced by and exploited it. When tech drew people indoors, we were fricked.

Doomsday? Nah. A sterile, soulless, mindless society of drones? You bet.
