Going with a deep track of mine, the rock of Gibraltar came to mind when I saw this thread. There is just so much going on that you can spend all day at the top. You can see another continent (Africa) from the peak and an airport runway below that a highway crosses. When planes land they treat it like a railway crossing with arms to block traffic.

The site is an old fort that’s inhabited by monkeys. One thing I’ll never forget is the birds using the wind shear. They would fly into the base and ride it all the way to the top, never having to flap a wing. It was cool to see
All my pics are on an iPhone that was lost a long time ago

Santorini would be a close second

This is my kind of place. You will notice there is water and no snow on the ground.

Any place you see snow means it is cold. Cold means there is a sign that says, SOJ was NOT here.

End of the awa’awa’puhi trail on Kauai finds you standing on a ridge of the Na Pali Coast peering into a valley that runs into the Pacific 3000 ft below. Not to bad of a hike from the trailhead at the top of Waimea Canyon Rd. About 8 miles round trip. It’s been my favorite view so far in life.

Horse back ride above Lake Louise. Started snowing on the ride. Larch trees (ones turning yellow) were in their peak. Awesome.

I concur on lake louise. Didn't ride horseback but hiked up to the glacier. I can't imagine heaven looking much more beautiful than that place from up top.

They recently fixed this, which is a bummer because it is definitely one of those oddities I wanted to see.

Over the Cascades in Washington State:

Somewhere over Afghanistan. It could be such a pretty place if it wasn't so full of psychos:

Looks cool the first time you see it, but overall this place can go frick itself:

This was an even better time:

I'll take this view over all the others any day though(ETA it's much better in the dark though ):

I went to the Grand Canyon in March or April, and there was snow in the Arizona desert. We get to the rim, and there were clouds and mist, but plenty of visibility. The scene looked like a painting. No photograph could convey the depth of this scene in front of me. At the time I had neither the camera nor the skill to even take a good picture of what I saw, so it remains a memory.

So on the far left of the picture above is North Dome, which requires a good hike to get to. When you're on North Dome, the face of Half Dome is in your face, it's an awesome view. Pics of big landscapes are necessarily wide-angle, so they give a distorted view that is different from what you see in person.

Great thread. Like so many, the view from the top of the mountain in Park City, UT during snow ski season is breathtaking.

Standing in the beautiful Kenai river in Alaska while fishing for fresh salmon that are coming inland to spawn, and looking up and seeing two bald eagles in the black spruce trees hanging out all day -- pretty awesome picture.

Have been at the top of the Eiffel Tower at midnight and admired the view of the city with my then-future wife, mid-90s pre-EU.

Just a few.
