What is the best strategy for eating a challenge meal?

Like a huge quintuple burger or super sized pizza or calzone. Challenge is you have to eat some extraordinary sized item in one sitting. How long do you want to fast beforehand, etc.

Eat fast.
As little drinking as possible.

Strategy depends on the specific item.

Do not fast before. East regular breakfast and then skip lunch

Not do it at all. I’m almost 40 and I can’t eat like a horse like I could in my 20’s without wanting to vomit

Eat 1/3. Take it home and eat 1/3 for the next two days.

Fasting is a losing strategy. Eat a giant meal 8 hours before to stretch out the stomach and then exercise to burn the calories so you'll be ready to refill and have room for extra.

I think this has some merit.

I tried that 72oz steak challenge in Amarillo in the late 80's..... the only thing I really succeed at was making myself sick for 3 days (but got about 90% of that critter down my neck).
Even as a 20 year old kid it was not a good idea. Smart person would opt out.

opting out?
This is the correct answer

This is what competitive eaters do. Solid advice

Strategy is to eat a ton every day, to an uncomfortable degree, at every meal, for about a week leading up to the day before the challenge. Day before (12 hours at least) the challenge starve yourself. Work out morning of challenge. 2 hours before challenge take a Xanax, smoke a little pot (not too much, slows you down), and take a shot of whiskey.
You’re welcome.
ETA:
I am convinced I could eat a large pizza and 6 IPAs and still have room after this.

Fast, try to chew good. Don't want the food to get into the stomach slowly and start swelling. Don't want big pieces in there that wont stack well. I'm a fast eater in general, so I don't fill up until I'm miserable.
I have no idea of any of this works, just theory.
