Acura MDX. Almost zero downside.

In the last year I’ve driven a bunch on this list traveling out of state, and getting a different rental every few weeks. The Toyotas and Hondas are solid choices, but I have to say that the RAV4 was my favorite, just loaded with features that made driving, parking in the cities so much easier.

I have almost a million miles on two pilots and a MDX since 2009. Basically the same engine/drivetrain. Both are solid choices. The mdx is a little better appointed, but the pilot is great too.

I have a Hyundai Santa Fe that I just paid off and I haven’t had a lick of trouble with it in all the time I’ve owned it.

TA: no Toyotas. Not trying to pax that tax on top of the used vehicle tax going on. Also 4Runners are too thirsty
What tax?! Your list is garbage without Toyota’s.

The Atlas isn't midsize but my wife drives one, over 100k miles and no problems so far.

I can’t comment about reliability but we had one as a rental last year for about 10 days and drove it all around Colorado. I loved it. Easy to drive and very comfortable. And decent gas mileage considering we were driving in the mountains.

You could at least look into the Buick Envision with seating for 5 or the Enclave with seating for 7. Really well made and very comfortable.

The old lady has a 2021 Highlander Platinum Hybrid and loves it. Great gas mileage, but the third row seat is almost useless and it didn't fare well when an old buck decided to play frogger at 60 mph.

Everyone I know that has/had a RAV4 loves them.
They drive forever with almost no maintenance costs aside of oil changes.
Literally never heard one bad thing about them.

Don't buy any Kia or Hyundai with the 2.4L and 2.0L Theta II GDI engines. The engine could lock and seize anywhere from 30,000 miles or above.
Or the 3.3l. The oil sensor failure is a huge PITA.

My household has a Mazda CX5, Nissan Murano, Lincoln Corsair and all are relatively trouble free.
I don't get all the Nissan hate. I've had an Altima, Titan, & the Murano all in the last few years and never a lick of problems with any.
