They have a two story Target downtown that you stick your shopping cart on a track and it goes up and down the stairs so that’s pretty cool.

shipping and manufacturing. at least punches it's weight in gdp, maybe above.

it can be a cool place to live. the "protests" are just downtown. blm/antifa ventured into neighborhoods a couple weeks ago and a few biker gangs went downtown and regulated. put a stop to that. probably only a quarter or less of the metro population actually ives in portland itself.

been up here for a few years. probably gonna move across the river to vancouver in the next 6 or so months. maybe sooner.

i don't live downtown and wouldn't even know the riots are taking place if not for the news.

hopefully these riots wake people up. lotsa potential here.

Portland can be awesome. Lots of bad rap right now, though. Hugely liberal city but there’s a large section of suburbs that is very conservative.

Portland runs on second hand patchouli oil, that is drained off the hipsters that inhabit the city everyday.

Not really sure about anything else related to Portland.

As always, I check on housing cost why on vacation and it is very expensive.

Me too. I tend to find out that I’ll probably be relegated to the South (or Southwest) for a long time. My dollar goes further here than almost anywhere else. I suppose I could move back to my family’s roots in the Ohio/PA area and do pretty well.

Portland is a pretty cool city.

But I can honestly say that it and SF are the only downtowns where I felt a little uncomfortable walking around at night by myself. Granted it was during the middle of the week, so at 10 pm it felt like it was just me, the bums, and no one else out.

West coast bums are definitely more aggressive, definitely more sign of obvious mental issues. Portland also attracts the “runaway kid” homeless demographic.

Had some good food and some good beer though. Outside of the bums, everyone was quite nice and down to earth.

Visited a couple clients in Vancouver. It goes from hippy land to steel and timber land in a hurry

And BTW, in case it’s useful information, 82nd Ave certainly seems to be the spot to pick up hookers. I swear I only know that because I took it to get to the airport after hitting a bottle shop in some neighborhood (Belmont Station- highly recommend). Or at least it was 5 years ago

Nike and Intel are the big two but they are located in the suburbs. Nike in Beaverton and Intel in Hillsboro.
