For reference, there’s a coin shortage and stores are limiting cash transactions due to lack of change.

I haven’t spent any change in over 20 years...I’m doing my part!

It has hit here in KC also. Quick-trip now giving gift cards back instead of change. They say they are short on all coins. Crazy.

Getting all the coins on Rainbow Ride was a monumental PITA

Look for Imaginaryitis to be used as impetus for the push for a cash-free society. Our overlords really want every transaction to be electronic.

Mints slowed down or stopped production because of Covid. Back up and running now.

John clayton from ESPN is collecting quarters in a 55 gallon drum. Why don’t we just do away with pennies and round prices to the nearest 0.05 cent. Cashiers can’t count most of the time.

Let’s just eat our own shite, while we’re at it.

The government is slowly taking them away to move us towards a cashless society to ease the transition to a one world government.
Either that or check between the couch cushions.

Several factors. Retail deposits slowed almost stopped for months. Retail opened back up and requested coin but hadn’t deposited what they had. Mint couldn’t keep up.
Get accustomed to it. This will likely keep going for a couple months is the latest I’ve heard.

People aren't bringing them to the bank like they used to

I don't know the reason and couldn't get a good answer, but I always get a roll of quarters at the Brookshires grocery store and they have not been able to give them the last 2 months. They said the bank is restricting their coin availability. No reasons why.
