Abundant Catholicism is an interesting requirement.
If a conservative environment where people share your moral and religious values is important to you, it makes sense.
I'm a midsized town kinda guy myself. I could move to Austin, SA, Houston, Dallas, etc. for a better job, but I appreciate being in a town where the local churches are hubs of the community.
I'm sure it's a violation of the first amendment or some things, but my pastor has lunch with our superintendent and is welcome on campus. He's not preaching the Gospel at Friday Assembly or anything, but some people want to live in a place where they feel their faith is welcome in the community, not a burden.

Hunted in Eldorado/Christoval area. Loved going to San Angelo it was a nice medium size city with everything you needed without all the headache traffic.

NVM you said socially conservative. I dont think NBTX would fit that, its a got lots of relocated Cali libs. But it is a great town.

Benton/Temple. You get the small, conservative town, but you're in a geographic anomaly. 30 minutes to Waco, 50 to Austin, 1 1/2 to San Antonio, 1 1/2 to Dallas, 1 1/2 to Fort Worth...Plus there's a Bucee's there now.

I’d recommend Tulsa over OKC if you’re considering Oklahoma.

I don’t know, but I have heard that they have some big ole women in San Antonio.

Somewhere between Mobile and Gulf Shores, AL.

Lake Amistad is awesome but anything along the border would be a no for me personally. San Angelo was the first one that came to mind. Victoria is close to the coast but not on it, and Corpus always seemed trashy to me.
