The real answer is: irrigation.

Once man didn’t have to worry about food as much technology has expanded rapidly from the first 200,000 years to the past 4000

So is there one thing that is responsible for the rapid evolution in technology?

If there is one thing that allowed for most follow-in technology it would be Johansson gauges. Repeatable, consistent, standardized precision measurement underpins pretty much all technological advancements.

The Roswell Incident in 1947. Once we started using Alien technology, our country started an immediate climb to the top of industry and also on the top of Space travel.

The advent of new technology from 1947 through the end of the 1950s is unmatched in any time period before or after. Besides major advances in electronics, and materials science, the were huge discoveries in experimental physics and astronomy.

I think it's safe to say that between the 1940s and today, we (humans) have evolved technology faster than any other period of time..

It's the compounding nature of technology.

But the technological revolution is rooted in the enlightenment. Western Civilization turned towards the philosophy of nominalism, and became fascinated by technology in a way that no people ever had before.
