I think it's safe to say that between the 1940s and today, we (humans) have evolved technology faster than any other period of time..

So is there one thing that is responsible for the rapid evolution in technology?

In medicine, antibiotics was a complete game changer and that was in the 1920s. Then during WWII the nuclear bomb was developed and other forms of communication... Is there anything that we gained from another country that helped the process?

Have you ever looked the timeline for how fast human knowledge evolves?

That could give you some insight as to why there isn't one thing responsible.

Should really work on self education rather than these topics on TD.

My thought is electricity. Made so many things possible. Some may say that wheel but that was around for many millenia and not much more came about because of it.

The wheel. Without it, the wild animals would have eaten you already.

There isn’t really one thing I’d point to specifically, but the transistor and the idea of doped semiconductors was an enormous game changer in the manufacture and design of computers.

We got to move from enormous vacuum tubes to tiny little components for switching things off and on and it really enabled a lot of progress on that front

It’s a joke man calm down.

In all seriousness, the railroad spurred most industrial and economic development in this country

Yes, but knowledge is one thing.. Technology is another and while I know you need knowledge to create technology, you don't think there was one thing that was able to be created that allowed wide range of other types of technology to be created?

The wheel was around much longer than electricity.. In other words, there was a lot more progression after electricity than the wheel so I would agree with electricity.
